Quick PSA when washing baby socks

My sisters friend has a babes and was washing a load of her clothes, when her washing machine suddenly broke mid-cycle. Turned out that one of the tiny baby socks she was washing got caught in the drainage tube. $500 later and the washing machine was fixed, but she advised to wash baby socks in a lingerie bag as a preventative measure for the future. Just thought I would pass the FYI onto you ladies!

  • Yikes! I had been using lingerie bags for most of his little clothes just because i was worried about losing bits, but amazing what can happen.

  • I loved a suggestion someone had of just keeping a lingerie bag clothes pinned to the baby's hamper and putting socks straight in there.

  • I have a front loader and like @gwenneh said, it eats the tiny baby socks... nothing like ringing out soaking wet socks after the washer shuts off. I will be putting them in a lingerie from here on out! Great idea!!

  • @GOBLUE1274 - I got one at Target and if I remember right (was a few years ago) I found it in the aisle that has drying racks, irons, steamers etc ( laundry accessories)

  • I wondered why I saw that on the list of things for baby.  Good to know! Thanks!
  • I get mine at the dollar store. Thanks for the tip.
  • You can get lingere bags anywhere, but I found them really cheap at dollar tree! 3 bags for $1! Yay! Oh and I've learned as well to fasten the bibs together before washing and drying with other clothes (especially frilly girl clothes) because the Velcro will stick to the clothes and it tears them up when you try to un stick them :(
  • I wouldn't have even thought if this, and it would have made me crazy losing cute socks and mittens. I especially love the idea of pinning them together so I don't have to find their friend later on. What would I do without TB!?
