3rd Trimester

35 weeks, major decrease in movement

Hi All,
I'm now 35 weeks along.  My baby has always had his own schedule---some days super active and other days hardly active at all.  Lately the past couple of days, I have noticed quite a large decrease in his movements.  I did the 'drink juice and lay on your side/do 10 kick counts in an hour) yesterday.  The Pgal in me is always worried!  Argh.  It makes me crazy.

Anyone else notice a huge decrease in baby's movements?  I know they're running out of room.......but it still freaks me out.  I have my next OB appointment in 2 days.........

Re: 35 weeks, major decrease in movement

  • I've noticed a decrease. He's just gotten so much bigger and is running out of room, most of his movements are little wiggles or nudges.

  • I would call your ob. I would say towards the end of my pregnancy mine son moved less and less. I think they start to sleep longer in the womb towards birth.

  • I am noticing the movement is different, not necessarily less in frequency. I always say error on the side of caution and call your OB if its concerning you. Better have peace of mind then worry something could be going on.

  • If LO is still moving a fair amount but the movements are just different (nudges and repositioning versus big kicks) and still passing kick counts, I'd try my best to relax. If overall movement has decreased I'd call my doc.

    this exactly
  • When you say MAJOR decrease in movement, that makes me think calling your OB or going straight to L&D is your best bet.  I started noticing 'less' movement around 30 weeks but definitely still have plenty of movement throughout the day/night.  The movements are more rolling and nudges & kicks in the sides & ribs rather than flips and 'dancing'.
