I play by the rules when it comes to chances for infection.

6 weeks minimum. With DS1 we were still driving 2 hours each way to the NICU at 6 weeks. Neither of us were in the mood for weeks after DS1 came home.

After DS2, I think we waited 7 or 8 weeks. It just came down to timing and being in the mood.

It's not the end of the world for us to abstain for medical reasons. We're plenty affectionate without vaginal intercourse.

I waited until I got the clear at my pp visit, around 6-8 weeks.

There were times that I felt ready, but your body is recovering. Give it a break.

I'm a firm believer in letting it heal for 6 weeks. Vaginal deliveries do a number to your lady bits and I want to reduce the chances of having serious permanent damage.

Plus, after the birth of DS1, I bled for a while and was not getting much sleep so I really wasn't in the mood for sex until then anyway.

OMG! My sister waited a week. Her and her husband are horndogs. I waited 6 months. I had no desire to have sex and most of the time was too exhausted to even think about it.

I bled for like 8 weeks... I even breastfed which is supposed to help. I was 12 weeks pp before my husband finally came home from being away for work and I was STILL nervous.

I'm not going to look at this other board but it sounds like they've got some winners!

That image is now imbedded in my brain...no good! i didn't even want to look at myself down there 1 week PP much less have my H go down there! YIKES!! I only waited 4 weeks PP with DS1 but it was very uncomfortable and honestly I did it trying to be nice to him. He didn't get it again for another 2 weeks after that. I was also tore and cut down there so he definitely was spoiled getting it that early. Not sure I will do it again that early, but I guess I will see how this birth plays out.

We've barely had sex while I've been pregnant, and I'm pretty sure my bleeding vag isn't going to be up for it or attractive afterwards. We'll both live another couple of months. A week is absolute insanity to me....
