Mya is here at 34 weeks 2 days (birth story)

Ok ladies here is Mya's story.  You guys know that I was hospitalized from 9/30-10/2 for low amniotic fluid.  On Wednesday they checked my fluid and the level was normal so I got to go home.  I was to follow up with my regular ob on Friday and the specialist on Wednesday.  At my follow up with my regular ob they did an NST and she was great.  They weren't sure why I had to follow up so soon and said everything looked good.  They wanted to see me back in 2 weeks.  I was feeling good and thinking everything was look up.
On Friday night (10/4) I laid down on the couch and thought that I peed myself.  I ran upstairs and went to the bathroom.  Came back downstairs to do some dishes and felt something dribbling down my leg.  I thought there is no way I am peeing myself again with no  sensation of having to pee.  Time went on and I felt 2 or 3 more times like  I was "peeing myself".  So I called my BFF who is an NP and she said you need to call your doctor given the events of this past week.  I called and said I am not sure if my water broke (I honestly thought I peed myself).  She said I had to come into L&D to determine if it was fluid or urine.  She said to take our time b/c they were really busy.  So I threw some things in a bag, packed a bag for Ava, and headed to BFF's house to drop Ava off.  We were so unprepared and still are.  Went into L&D where they did a test to determine if it was amniotic fluid or urine.  If felt like forever but they nurse came in and said it was amniotic fluid and they were going to have the doctor come talk to us.  Because I was over 34 weeks, he felt it was safer to deliver her vs trying to keep her in longer.  The good thing was I had the steroid shot while in the hospital earlier that week.  I freaked out a little but everyone kept telling me that b/c she was a girl (apparently preemie girls do better than boys) and at 34 weeks she was going to be fine.
I finally had Pitocin started at 12:30 am.  I started cramping and then contracting really bad.  I couldn't sleep at all.  At 4:30 they gave me some Nubian which is totally worthless.  I was relaxed but it seemed to make my contracts worse.  The doctor (who I call Doogie Howser) came in at 6:30 am and checked me and I was at 2 cm.  I finally said I want an epidural.  I was in so much pain.  Around 7:15 am I got the epidural and the nurse checked me.  I was at 4 cm.  She told Kevin to go get some breakfast so he did.  The doctor came in around 8:30 am and checked me and said we are about to have a baby soon.  You are at about 9 cm.  Kevin wasn't back yet and I freaked out.  I started calling him and he didn't answer.  I called him 4 times and finally he answered.  I said you need to get back here now.  When he got there they started getting ready for her.  The doctor was gowning up and the respiratory team had just got to my room when I felt a weird popping like sensation and her head popped out.  The RN looked at me and started yelling baby.  The doctor wasn't even ready for her.  He didn't have gloves on.  He pulled his hands into the gown and caught her using his gown.  She cried right away.  I never even pushed.  She was born at 8:50 am, weighed 4#, and was 16" long.  After being checked over they decided she was healthy enough to stay with us.  No NICU.  She is a feisty little firecracker and latched on to nurse right away.  I was shocked.  Everyone who saw her in the hospital told us what a fighter she is and how lucky we are that she is so healthy.  Our pediatrician said I hope you guys realized what a huge bullet you just dodged.  She could have had a lot of complications but is doing very well.  After the doctor delivered the placenta he realized I had about a 20% placenta abruption.  Not only were we lucky Mya had no problems, we were also lucky that the placenta abruption most likely caused my water to break and saved both of us.  It all felt like an out of body experience.  Ava was born at 41 weeks and we thought she would be the same.  Other people have preemies, not me.  But looking back on it all I can't help but think my angel mama was looking after both of us.
Other than jaundice that just won't go away, she is doing awesome.  We got to come home on Thursday and she is on a bilibed.  Ava is totally in love and is doing well adjusting to her new sister.
