In between clothes?

Does anyone know of anywhere that I can get some clothes that are like in between being not pregnant and being really really pregnant? We only have a motherhood store in the area and it seems like the majority of the clothes are for larger bellies. I'm not that big yet but I also don't want to feel fat so I've been trying to find something in between to no avail. Any suggestions?

  • IF you buy the full panel pants you can fold the panel over and that will help hold them up. Luckily most maternity shirts are longer so if the pants are a little bunchy in the front/crotch the shirt will hide it.

Also, you may want to just buy regular clothes the next size up.

  • I've been wearing a lot of cardigans with tank tops underneath. I did have to go  maternity jean sopping this week, I also sit at a desk all day and my regular jeans just weren't cutting it anymore. I doubt Ill buy many maternity shirts I think Ill be able to get by with my regular shirts at least for awhile. But the maternity clothes really aren't that huge on me. I went to motherhood this weekend the lady that worked there said their clothes grow with you so from now until the end of the pregnancy you should be covered !

  • I got several of those Belly Band things at Target, that way I can still wear my regular pants for a little longer. So those, and long tops are hopefully going to hold me over until I can fit into the full blown maternity clothes.
  • Hoodies!!! lol I know those don't work at work typically but they're my go-to when I get home.  I love hoodies anyway.  Some of them are getting tight on my belly - annoying.

  • I found a bunch of skirts and tops at H&M that are working fine for me right now.

  • Belly bands, long shirts, size up one size...then just give in! I feel like Target's brand runs a bit small so you could probably do your normal size or one down in their maternity clothing. I'm typically a small for tops and felt like their Smalls were great for when I was starting to look a little too chubby for my normal shirts, but was not at all into the standard maternity clothes. If you work in a professional environment, their long sleeve t's under a cardigan work great. They are fitted so they don't at all look sloppy but the ruching will grow with you and form to your belly.
  • Lucky for us a lot of the styles are really flowy right now so a lot of my shirts are going to work through pregnancy! Try getting some maternity tanks or tees and dress them up with cardi's or sweaters that hang open. Sheer fabric is in and it's not supposed to be tight, so get some sheer shirts, I bought one in a size bigger than pre-pregnancy and it looks cute over a tee without looking like a tent!
  • Do you have a Target nearby?  Our Targets have a small maternity department and they sell shirts without the elastic on the sides.  They're just longer than regular shirts but will still grow with you because there's more room the belly than in regular shirts (but you can't see that).  I have a shirt from there that I wore when I was 9 months pregnant but looks fine on me now even with my small bump.

  • I went to Motherhood Maternity and couldn't find anything. I just went to the department store and got a few larger cardigans for layering. Works perfectly fine.

  • Old Navy!!!  I have been buying a lot of things like: https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=6472140920000&cid=1000723&locale=en_US and https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=6487620120000&cid=1000723&locale=en_US in my normal size or a size up.  Most are long and flowy and either perfectly hide the small bump or accentuate it nicely, depending on where you're at/what you're going for.  I've actually gotten most of my clothes from there so far and will even wear some post baby.

  • Lots and lots of leggings and dresses/tunics. I'm starting to get to the point where I can wear the full belly stuff, but the maternity leggings I bought early on have already gotten a lot of use!

Yep. Leggings and yoga pants are my favorite for the in-between stage.

  • I'm still in the in between phase as well.  My larger shirts still fit.  Leggings are great.  The belly bands help.  I will still wear my maternity shirts even though they are a tad big.

Exactly this.  I bought some loose, sheer tops that have been really comfortable with a tank underneath.  I'm starting to fit in my maternity tops now, but the loose, flowy tops are great for the in-between period.  Also, I bought them at Target.

  • Maternity pants just aren't working for me, so I've been doing a lot of leggings with long tank tops and long sweaters, which is great because I can still wear that stuff post-pg! Target online has really nice sweaters and maternity sweaters for cheap, and most stores sell long tanks both maternity and regular, but my fav is the Buckle's long and lean tanks. Having these tanks and tops also allows me to wear my regular work pants unzipped without anyone seeing.

Just get regular clothes that are one size too big?!
This is what I've been doing because maternity wear is just waaaay to big so far.  And bonus - you'll be able to wear them postpartum while you're still getting back to pre-pg size.
