Switching from BM to formula

Hello!  I do not post much on here.  My little girl about 8 1/2 months old now and has been on BM since day 1.  I had a great freezer stash built up but have been using it the last month or so.  I am now down to hardly anything in the freezer, I haven't been producing enough to keep up with her either.  My supply has slowly gotten less and less the last couple months.  I think I might produce about 10-12oz per day and have been taking about 2-3 of my 5oz freezer stash daily.  I know I will have to put her on formula soon but I wanted to gradually introduce her to it.  For moms out there that formula feed their baby, can you recommend what formula you use or recommend?  TIA!!  :)

Re: Switching from BM to formula

  • I nurse and use formula and I  honestly use whatever store brand I can find.  I really don't get why people spend more on name brands that aren't any different.  DD has never cared or noticed.

  • We use Similac advance in the blue tub. How much is the kirkland large tub as opposed to similac?

  • We started supplementing around 6.5 months and we use target formula...it is comparable to Similac Advance.  Their 40oz tub is $22 (something like that).  We have had no problems.  She is getting between 8-12oz of formula a day now.  I will probably be making the transition to full formula soon.  My supply is REALY low.
  • we used kirkland brand with DS1 as well from 6 months on...
now i'm using it with DS2 as well and he's had no issue with it. i just switched to fully FF as of this week and he's doing fine with it.

    so much cheaper!

  • We had to supplement since 2 months - switched fully to formula at 7.5 months, we started with Enfamil Gentlease ( I got tons of samples & coupons in the beginning) at around 6 months we switched to Target Up & Up brand, the gentle formula that is comparable to Enfamil Gentlease. He did just fine with the switch, plus it's cheaper and you get more!
