Will I be able to bring my supply back up?

I went out of town for a long weekend and pumped the entire time. I did ok and figured that once I came back and was on my regular schedule we'd be fine. Only the next day DD came down with an ear infection & bronchiolitis. I kept her home two days from daycare, nursing her & (stupidly) didn't pump as much as I should have. Instead I just held a sick baby and worked whenever I could put her down.

I thought this past weekend we'd be able to nurse like crazy & get things back up to normal, but she pretty well refused to eat. I guess the antibiotic screwed with her appetite. Now that she's feeling better & back at daycare I'm on my regular pumping schedule...and I'm pumping about a full bottle less than normal! I'm totally freaking out because I am just covering what she needs to eat during the day. I have a good freezer stash that I can use if I need to while waiting on my supply to increase.

I've gone from pumping 3x during the work day, to 4x - every 2 hours. Yesterday I got right at 15oz. She really would like to eat 18 at daycare, so I'm a little screwed. I have been drinking the tea as well & a TON of water. Anything else I can do to help?

Please tell me that after a week of adding in an extra pumping session, I'll be back to normal. I busted my butt to pump on my trip & then her getting sick derailed the whole thing. I was so hoping to nurse longer than I did with DS (8mo) and I'm feeling so defeated.

  • Almost 6mo. She's there for 3 feedings.

She's a chunker though - almost 17lbs. And not eating any solids. This week I dropped it back to 15oz since her appetite has sucked.

  • When my supply dropped I took Fenugreek and it seemed to help. But I agree with the previous poster- trust your body. I know it's hard but try not to stress about your supply. Stressing won't help your milk production.
