It's the worst! He mentioned last night that he thought he might be getting a cold and all I could think was, "great - because I really need this on top of being 35 weeks pregnant with an almost-two-year-old who is going through a sleep regression."
OMG! that's so true! DH complains that he is tired and I just look at him and say "really?" As I have been up all night with a sick stuffy toddler, going pee every hour, and have excruciating hip pain. He gets this look from me a lot....
I don't know what the difference is between the two generations... My dad missed work 3 times during my 22 years living at home.
DH, OTOH, well... He's of the end-of-the-world-illness persuasion.
I 100% blame my MIL - she fostered his hypochondriacal tendencies and I can't stand it!
Now that you mention it... MIL was in the medical field for decades -- and by that I mean she ran a medical office for a husband\wife MD practice. Because of this, she has a breadth of knowledge on most things, however, she's far from an MD. BUT, DH still trusts her to make a diagnosis and recommend a course of treatment. OY!

My favorite is when DH tells me that my "getting up all the time at night" (to pee, or adjust because my hips hurt, etc...) wakes him up so he didn't get a good night's sleep....gee really? 'Cause I slept through all of that 8-|
I try not to complain because DH has been awesome 99% of the time, but I guess all men have those 1% of times
OMG...I mean they are always babies when it comes to being sick but it amazes me every time MH complains about his back or his tickle in his throat (keep in mind I've been sick for 2 weeks). This pic you have posted...it might be my favorite ever and I love you for it.
Me 39, DH 40. Married on 9/18/2010 and have been TTC since. IVF # 1-7/13/2012, 15 retreived, 6 fertilized, 2 transferred, 4 frozen. BFP Natural MC 9/10

My DH is usually pretty good about this but a few months ago he had a bug bite that lasted a few weeks and he went on and on and on about it! I just wanted to scream at him when he was saying things like it could be Lyme disease. Ugh- silly boys.
Mine told me last week his ear infection was worse than my kidney infection!
Oh hell no nothing is worse than a kidney infection! I was in the hospital for three days last year for my kidney infection it was worse than my colitis flair up which isn't pleasant either!!!

The flip side is bad, too. My husband's response to being sick is to hole up and sleep, so he's not a problem while he's sick. Afterward, though... He gets these dry coughs that go on for weeks, and never does anything about them. They drive me nuts!

No sympathy, DH!
