Secondary IF

uh-oh. Sorry, I forgot **Making a Home Monday**

Sorry ladies, I didn't mean to drop the ball on this. I've got a crazy week going on and I'm dead on my feet.

Okay, so you know the drill:

1.) Please tell us about any current crafts or DIY projects going on.

Me: None. See above^^

2.) What is your LO's room decorated like? Have you changed decor from nursery to toddler (if applicable) or did you leave the same?

Me: My DS's room is pretty much the same (he's almost 2). I made sure not to decorate too baby-ish because I wanted something he could grow into. The room is done in lots of navy blues and I used traditional dark wood for his crib, bookcase, etc. Recently, it has been updated with Mickey Mouse toddler bedding but, that is pretty much it.

3.) Any tips for controlling the massive toy invasion that has occurred in every room of my house? Seriously, what are your methods of toy storage/organization.

Me: Currently, we are being taken over by the toys so, that is why I asked the question.

4.) Anything else you care to share in regards to the lovely art of homemaking?

Okay, sorry for the suck-ness that is this week's post! Going to bed now!

We have so many that need done because we moved this summer and we have a lot of renovating going on. Right now my downstairs bathroom is still drywall that needs finished, that is the project I am ready to finish!

2.) What is your LO's room decorated like? Have you changed decor from nursery to toddler (if applicable) or did you leave the same? His room was updated because we moved. It iphasgray walls with a thick black stripe of chalkboard paint around it (to look like a road) that he can draw on. He got a new big boy bed and has a comforter with different vehicles on it.

3.) Any tips for controlling the massive toy invasion that has occurred in every room of my house? Seriously, what are your methods of toy storage/organization.
No! I would love some tips because our house looks like toys r us exploded in the living room. He just had a birthday so that does not help. I need to go through them and put some away for a while.

4.) Anything else you care to share in regards to the lovely art of homemaking?
Nope! But I really enjoy this thread. Looking forward to reading about other projects everyone has going on around the house!

1.) Please tell us about any current crafts or DIY projects going on. I raided my parent's attic a couple weeks ago and took an unfinished doll cradle that my uncle made for me when I was a baby. I took it home and am going to refinish it for DD for Christmas.

2.) What is your LO's room decorated like? Have you changed decor from nursery to toddler (if applicable) or did you leave the same? DD's room is exactly the same, and in fact, she's still in her crib! We are toying with the idea of converting it to a toddler bed soon, but she's perfectly content in her crib. We are hoping to move in the next year or two so I'm not going to go through the effort of redoing her room at this point. This picture is from before she was born, but it looks the same (minus the bassinet!).

3.) Any tips for controlling the massive toy invasion that has occurred in every room of my house? Seriously, what are your methods of toy storage/organization. We turned our formal living room into a playroom and use the expedit shelving from ikea to organize all her toys. They still make their way around the house, but at least I can sort of contain them in one room!image

4.) Anything else you care to share in regards to the lovely art of homemaking? I'm excited to make apple crisp today!

    ETA: Added a playroom pic.

  • 1.) Please tell us about any current crafts or DIY projects going on. A Halloween cross stitch..almost done!
2.) What is your LO's room decorated like? Have you changed decor from nursery to toddler (if applicable) or did you leave the same? Her room is totally different. I get bored and change things in our house all the time. Originally her room was green bc we painted before we knew the gender. Now it's pink, we let her choose the color. She also went from having carpet to now having wood laminate flooring. Much easier to clean.
3.) Any tips for controlling the massive toy invasion that has occurred in every room of my house? Seriously, what are your methods of toy storage/organization. We recently took on this issue. I bought an under the bed storage bin for small toys, a stackable shelf unit for toys in the closet, and a pop up hamper for all her stuffed animals. She also has a toy box. It's working very well.
4.) Anything else you care to share in regards to the lovely art of homemaking? Actually I've had the itch to move. I'm bored. But we have an upside down mortgage, so I'm afraid we're stuck here for a long time.

  • 1) Nada!

    2) Yes! Just recently we switched from a baby nursery to a toddler room. Her room was baby pink and chocolate brown, now it's various shades of pink and purple with Tinkerbell EVERYWHERE! We left the walls a light pink, so it's a nice contrast with all the purple.

    3) When you find out, please let me know. We do not have a lot of storage space, and the toys are everywhere. They're spilling out of her room, and throughout my house. Every day my living room looks like a toy explosion. When I changed her room, I made a point to get an extra toy bin, and a bunch of little toy boxes with dreams of order, but that's a laugh.

    4) LOL H got me a crock pot the other day. I made a crock pot roast beef for Sunday dinner. I am seriously laughing at me using at crock pot. I am like the anti-housewife. The roast beef was amazing :P

  • 1.) This isn't actually going on yet, but over the winter we plan to do some major work to our unfinished basement. Getting some drylock paint for the floors and walls, cleaning, and maybe building some sort of storage to go with the laundry. If anyone has any suggestions for unfinished basements let me know!
2.) DD's is pale pink with cute zoo animals on the wall and letters with her name. It's still basically her nursery but we've transitioned to a toddler bed with Dora bedding!
3.) I need some serious help in this area!!!
4.) I'm a terrible homemaker :( But I'm making beer bread this week and I'm pretty excited for that!!

Nada over here, too busy traveling this month.

2.) What is your LO's room decorated like? Have you changed decor from nursery to toddler (if applicable) or did you leave the same? We've moved twice since DD1 was born, and once for DD2, so their rooms are different from their nurseries. I know we will be moving again in 3 years when DH finishes residency so I haven't gone too crazy decorating their rooms.

3.) Any tips for controlling the massive toy invasion that has occurred in every room of my house? Seriously, what are your methods of toy storage/organization. We have a designated play area downstairs with two huge ikea shelves and storage bins. Once upon a time it was all organized, now it at least hides the toys :)

None... I am still trying to get a grasp on Pinterest

    No
But I did make this recipe this weekend.  It is so easy and pretty tasty, I thought i would share with you ladies.  I do add more to this recipe, like Italian Sausage and Mushrooms.  You can pretty much add anything you put on a pizza. I recommend sauteing any vegetables before putting it in.. But up to you...
Pepperoni Pasta Bake: (Also very good if you prepare the night before and bake the next night)

  • @KC1212 I hope you are able to get some down time this week and relax!! Sorry you've had a crazy week, I know that feeling all too well!

1.) Please tell us about any current crafts or DIY projects going on.

We are still working on this stupid pallet bench, that thing better turn out good... Im so over it! lol

2.) What is your LO's room decorated like? Have you changed decor from nursery to toddler (if applicable) or did you leave the same?

DD's room is painted brown on the bottom, pink on top and is a cowgirl theme... Her bedding and curtains are pink Mossy Oak and Browning. So much cooler than my room, totally jealous. lol.

3.) Any tips for controlling the massive toy invasion that has occurred in every room of my house? Seriously, what are your methods of toy storage/organization.

We just clean out the toy box once every 3 months, and I am anti stuffed animal so once her little "zoo" bucket is full, somethings gotta go!

4.) Anything else you care to share in regards to the lovely art of homemaking?

    Drawing a blank here! lol
