Enjoying my new found quiet time

With me working nights, and not getting home till midnight, LO has usually already taken a bottle via DH in an effort to get her to sleep. This means, all I need to do is swaddle her, then attach her to the boob for a quick drop off to sleep. DH goes to bed, and I move LO to the spare room into our Snuggle Nest next to me. I then can pump, run the dishwasher with the days bottles and my pump parts, get a shower, browse the internet, and then catch some TV...I have been going to bed around 2:30-3...Its been so nice to have the time to do this without having to deal with DH and his bull, or LO needing to be held, fed, whatever....Though I still hate working, I am enjoying my new found time...

Any other momma's getting some new quiet time?

Re: Enjoying my new found quiet time

  • Glad you are getting a moment to yourself. My only constant "me" time is the shower haha.. Except it is usually me rushing because lo is asleep in rnp/swing.

  • Not yet. Lo starts day care next week and my new project won't be ready to begin yet. So, I'll have some time to clean up my office and get ready for work life again. I work from home.

  • Not yet. Although, when DH got home from work yesterday, I ran out to get my oil changed. Alone. I took advantage and blasted the music with all the windows down. It was glorious.

I go back to work in the beginning of November, but the men I work with whine more than my son. ;)
"The cleaning, the scrubbing will wait til tomorrow,

So, quiet down cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep."
  • I'm at the laundromat right now does that count as quiet time:). It will be nice to not have to wake up with dd1 and have a little time to myself.

  • My quiet time is going to work, lol. DS has been napping way less during the day but I'm so glad that I can give him a bedtime bottle and he's out at 8/9ish for about 8 hours before his motn feeding. Once I put him down though it's a mad dash to do the laundry, wash the bottles and prep for the night and morning ahead so that I can get to sleep.

  • I have been staying up after LO's early morning feeding (usually he gets up between 4 and 5) to get a workout in and enjoy a mug of coffee, breakfast, and a shower before he wakes up for the day.  Plus, I figured it will be good training for having to get up at that hour for work in two weeks.

I've been doing the same. Work will be rough enough without having to get used to getting up earlier again...

  • Not quite. I do manage to shower at least everyday. I slip up every once in a while and don't get a chance to but I consider that some quiet time.
I catch myself standing in the shower thinking how warm and good the water feels. Like I've never showered before ever. Haha
  • Quiet time is pretty nice huh? I've had a couple mornings where the baby goes back down at 5:45 or so and my toddler isn't up til 630-7 and it's been glorious.
  • My quiet time usually starts at 8 pm after DD is asleep and it's gives DH and I an hour to hang out and watch TV before I head upstairs at 9 and am hopefully asleep by 10.

But in the morning I do not get up before she does! Even if I am awake, I will lay there with my eyes closed because I am not able to nap during the day (don't know why but I just can't) so I enjoy all the rest I can between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am.
