New allergies?

Anyone else develop new allergies since delivery? Apparently it's fairly common or so Dr. Google tells me.

Prior to pregnancy I wasn't allergic to anything that I knew of. Since pregnancy I've had major reactions to two medications (one being the mini pill) and tonight I broke out in hives again I think due to a TINY bit of shrimp.

We went to a taste of the town event and I ate several common foods from restaurants I know. After tasting an Alfredo dish (from macaroni grill) I noticed a shrimp. Since I don't like it I picked it out and ate like two more bites of the pasta before tossing it. I thought it was their regular Alfredo sauce with shrimp tossed in. I don believe it was a shrimp sauce. That's the only thing out of the normal I can think that I encountered today.

Starting to wonder at what point should I see an allergist. This was mild but I only had a couple bites. The medication reaction was severe to the point of needing high dose steroid injections to help with breathing.

  • Yep, I have eaten subway.. same everything for years. I got allergic to it 2 months PP. Broke out in crazy ass hives the two times I tried. I actually had subway for the first time today since and only broke out in one place...so it is going away somewhat.

I've never had an allergy to anything - not even any seasonal allergies - but after pregnancy I've developed an allergy to mustard. Allergist confirmed and now I have to carry an epi-pen. At first I thought, no big deal, but mustard is in so many things! Pickles, salad dressings, curries, BBQ sauce... Sucks!!! :(( ETA: mustard greens, potato salad, sausage...

  • A girlfriend of mine had no allergies pre pregnancy. Now she suffers very badly from seasonal allergies. She also can't eat most fresh fruit without having a reaction. Her daughter is 5 now.
