Suddenly Obsessed

Just joined The Bump!  I seriously have babies on the brain.  I've always thought that I didn't want to have children.  A few years ago I started
considering the idea that I might want to be a mother someday.  SOMEDAY.  In the far off future.  But a couple months ago, I suddenly wanted babies IMMEDIATELY.  So I've made a dr. appt, and a dentist appt. and am taking prenatal vitamins and have talked to my husband.  I feel excited and a little awed that this is actually happening. :)

    Sounds exactly like me!!! Lol. So excited to meet someone on here in the same position (although I always wanted a family at some point) just started chatting today too! ;)

    It's called baby rabies ;) welcome to the club. Having a baby (or 2) does not necessarily sure the said condition.

    Same. The hubby and I were def not interested in babies anytime soon, and we've been married over 3 years. Then I started thinking about it but didn't want to put that on him, not now. Then he told me he thinks it's time! Now I'm looking for an obgyn and looking for the right prenatal vitamins. I'm so excited!!

    Dental hygine and overal dental health has shown to have a large correlation with a healthy pregnancy, and they reccomend getting a dental checkup/cleaning before ttc and to make sure all xrays are up to date so they aren't necesary during pregnancy. also, periodontitis has shown a link to increased pre term labor and low birth weight. (dental health is also good for you alone too, people with gum disease have increased risk of heart disease and heart attack!)

    I was reading that you get more plaque build-up when you're pregnant which can cause pre term labor. It was suggested to get dental work done before you conceive especially if you need x-rays.

    I did hear some of the dental hygiene things when I visited my gyno for my regular pap and then pre-tttc visit. Didn't hear all of those things though....thanks for sharing!

    Welcome to the boards! I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Never thought I wanted kids, DH did at first but then kind of changed his mind with me. We've been married for 5 years now ( together for 11) and have both changed our minds. This will be our first cycle TTC!
    Also, kudos to you for taking care of your dental needs prior to getting pregnant! I'm a dental hygienist and it's awesome to see people acknowledge the importance of dental health.

    Not all of the articles on the Bump are accurate, and a lot of them make mountains out of mole hills. So don't take everything they say as the end all be all of baby making. Just a heads up. :)

    Thanks! I agree...i take the advice with a grain of salt but the dental advice made a lot of sense. Better to be safe than sorry. The bump opened my eyes to a lot of things i never considered before. Some articles are a bunch of crap that states the obvious. ;)

    Glad you saw through the bs, this board doesn't need any more uneducated ninnies propping up their hips after sex wondering why they keep getting UTIs.
