Maternity leave starts today!

I work as an RN in an ED, 3 12-hour night shifts a week. I really debated if/when I should take leave, but followed the advise of my coworkers and friends, who all pushed me to stay home, relax, and enjoy the last of the 'me' time I'll ever have. 36 weeks today, this week starts maternity leave. I'm totally that 1 in a million that loves my job and already know I'm going to miss it!

As a FTM, anything you STM can recommended I get done or do while I can, aside from of course normal house chores and washing baby clothes? What do you miss most about pre-baby life that I should enjoy while it lasts?

  • Time with friends.

I nursed until very recently. My son would take a bottle at bedtime, but it wasn't easy.

My husband and I both cut back on our hours after LO was born, so we had to cut out a lot of our restaurant dinners from the budget. And a lot of our friends weren't really willing/able to trek out to the suburbs for dinner just like it was harder for me to get to the city.

Anyway, short story long, spend some leisurely time with your friends before LO arrives!

  • Stay out of wholesale clubs! I just spent a ton of money on craziness like how will we live without 10 packs of Oreos? I did get a bunch of necessary stuff too but I probably way overdid it. Good news is I can run the dishwasher for the next 6 months!
