Hi -
DH and I are struggling to choose a name for our second son. DS #1 is Justin. We'd like to use the family name "Glen" for a middle name. Last name begins with M and ends with Y, so we're avoiding names that start with M or end with Y. Our mutual list includes:
Jordan Glen
Jefferson Glen (nickname: Jeff)
Everett Glen
Cormac Glen
Kevin Glen
DH also likes Adrian for a first name, but Adrian reminds me too much of female friends and acquaintances (even though I know that, with this spelling, it can be a boy's name).
I'm interested to see which names you love or hate and why. I'd especially like to hear about negative associations, names that seem too trendy or popular, etc. Thanks in advance!
Re: Feedback on boys' names
You have a really nice list!
My favorite is Jordan. I seriously love Jordan on a boy/man. I went to high school with one, but my first association is Rock Hudson's character in Giant.
Runners-up for me are Cormac and Kevin (DH's name, so I'm kind of biased, but it was actually one of my favorite names before I ever met him. I still really like it and think it's underused today).
Jefferson is alright; I think of Thomas Jefferson and Jefferson Davis.
Everett is fine, but NMS.
I had the same thought about another name that I liked: Owen. It just didn't sound right with Glen. The others ending in "n" sound better to me, maybe because they have other consonant sounds. But who knows? Maybe we'll reopen the great MN debate, too.

Jefferson - much prefer Jeffrey to get to Jeff, or I think Jeff can stand on its own as a FN. I'd be less negative aboug Jefferson if its a family name or you chose it for Thomas Jefferson. Also made me think of the show, the Jeffersons
Everett - NMS, but not a bad choice
Cormac - don't like the way it sounds, its too harsh or something
Kevin - my favorite on your list. An established male first name that's underused today, good choice, IMO.
Edit to add: Adrian is NMS, I agree, it has always felt feminine to me.

I love Glenn, it is nice to see it on someone's list.
