Nursing tops

I'm having the hardest time finding clothes to wear that I feel good in that I can easily nurse in. Right now I have about 7 different tank tops that I wear with cardigans but that's getting old. I'm 4 weeks pp and still wearing my maternity pants. Also my boobs are huge, there were big to begin with and I've always been self conscious. I have a small frame and I feel like a porn star. I just feel sloppy. Plus my nursing bras are not supportive and I feel very floppy. Totally unattractive. I know most everyone on this board is feeling this way but is there certain tops you wear that work for nursing and you feel good in? I'd rather pull my shirt down than up but everything I have now would stretch out after one time pulling it down.

Re: Nursing tops

  • I have small boobs but still hate the way I look and feel in most tops. I was getting tired if the tank and cami combo too but didn't want to pull my shirt up and leave my belly hanging out.
Now I compromise and wear a tank top with a looser fitting shirt over it. One shirt up, one shirt down and I'm pretty dang covered up.

Large chested here too and most tops are not comfortable for me either. I have gotten some tank/tube tops at BBRUS that are thyme brand that I really like. Also have gotten a few wrap/cross-type tops at target that are pretty easy to pull aside (stretchy fabric). I have accepted that I am probably not going to love most of my clothes unless I want to get undressed as long as I am nursing.

    Edit for typo
  • I have a few shirts from Gap that are easy to nurse in. They are not the cutest thing ever but are nice for something different. I have the double layer nursing top in gray and black that I ordered during a 30 percent off sale. I wear them with a Target nursing tank underneath but I also recently got measured for a nice nursing bra at a local store. It was almost 50 buck but worth it to feel good about my boobs for once!

  • I also like the nursing tanks from Target! They have many that are great for layering (as the bottom layer) to do the pull-down/pull-up routine. They also have a couple that look like a faux layered top that works well.

  • I feel the same.. What helps me is to have "going out" clothes and wear those when I leave the house, and then I wear the more convenient nursing tanks, or just pull up my shirt when I'm home where I don't care. It's a pain to change whenever I leave, but it makes me feel a little better. And I usually try to time it so I don't have to nurse while I'm out... Then the inconvenient clothes don't matter as much.

  • My favorite tops that are like a v neck but the material is split so that you can pull one side off. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, they're hard to describe. Target has a few in the nursing section.

  • I've been to 3 Target stores and they don't have the nursing tanks everyone is talking about and the one shirt they did carry was not work or going out worthy. I like my one nursing cami from Morherhood, and they now carry a really nice short sleeved crisscross shirt with a new tummy control panel, but these were both pricy even at the outlet store. Grrrr...

The tanks are in the lingerie section, not with the maternity clothes. And they have them online as well.

I'm not sure why but the same products are cheaper online than in my store. Then again there are shipping costs so maybe it evens out?

  • Get the target red card if you don't have it! They have a debit card too and save 5%. Also I just downloaded the cartwheel app - it has some awesome coupons! I saw one for 25% off a maternity item.

You're welcome! It took me two trips to find them at my local Target!
