I'm looking into birth control for after my current pregnancy. Once we decide we're done, DH will have a vasectomy, but we think we might like to try for a third in the future. I've had issues with hormonal birth control in the past, and I've read that Paraguard is non-hormonal.
Anyone have any experiences, positive or negative? Thanks!
Re: S/O Mirena - anyone have Paraguard?
Pros:
-didn't mess with my cycles so I could get pregnant shortly after removal
-no hormones so I was able to track ovulation while it was still inserted
-no side effects from hormones
Cons:
-heavier periods for the about 3 months after insertion.
***I didn't experience heavier periods post partum at all (inserted 8 weeks post partum). I did notice heavier periods the first time I had it inserted (prior to having kids).
I got my 2nd after K was born and about 8mo after getting it my periods started getting longer and longer and they are were already heavy but started lasting around 3 weeks. One day when I went to check my strings and they were really low. I went to the doctor and found out it had started to fall out and imbedded itself in my cervix and my cervix. I had to have it removed and it took forever and was kind of painful.
Oh no, that sounds terrible!
Thanks to all you ladies for sharing your experiences!
