Healthy snack ideas for work?

Since morning sickness has abated (yay!) and I can eat again, I am not SO hungry ALL of the time! In an effort to stave off vending machine mini meals, I'm trying to keep lots of healthy snack options at work.

I've got almonds at my desk and I bring yogurt to work every day. I also found these single serving steam-in-microwave veggie packs from Green Giant that are a quick, healthy snack. They're easy to keep in the freezer at work to take care of between meal hunger pangs.

Any of you ladies have good ideas for other quick, easy, healthy snacks?

  • I am currently into fruit (grapes or bananas) and string cheese or low fat cheese.  I also enjoy cheese and peanut butter crackers (not as healthy but at least has protein) from time to time.  And plenty of water!
  • I usually bring fruit as well as yogurt, and a granola bar , I also do almonds . My actual lunch varies depending on my mood, but I either bring salad with chicken or a sandwich. I had an emergency visit to the doc on thur bc I was having dizzy/ light headed spells which appreantly steamed from not enough protein ?!   which I'm really struggling with since Im not a huge meat fan. :-/

  • I always have almonds and apple at my desk. I also have a drawer with some granola bars (luna bars). I usually bring a low fat cheese stick too.

  • One of my favorites is cottage cheese with cut up tomatoes and green and black olives. I know it sounds different but I love it! I got it from a friend at work.

  • Here are some different things I pack.. Nature Valley granola bar, Kellogg's fruity snacks (they are only 90 calories per pack and 100% vit C), string cheese, yogurt, apple, banana, lightly salted wavy potato chips (lays brand), or lightly salted pringles.

    Hey, I can't give up my chips entirely, so I found what I think to be a slightly better alternative, lol.

    You sound like me...I would rather have a few days worth of snacks in my lunch bag, versus running out and go to the real vending machine. Besides, some days I feel much more hungry than others.

    Do you like eggs?  I eat them often because I also don't really like meat.  One egg has about 6g protein.  Just a suggestion...

    This does sound weird... But it also sounds like it might be good. I'm going to have to try it.

    Also, I used to love luna bars and eat them all them time but burnt out on them and haven't for a while... But i never tried the protein ones!

  • I ate a lot lf cantaloupe when I was sick, fruit was one of the only things that tasted good and didn't smell !!! Also it's juicy so it's great for hydrating you ;)

  • I usually get fruit and nut bars from nature valley I think. And those breakfast to go packets. I also have brought fruit and yogurt but I like the protein from the nuts, makes me feel fuller.
  • I like quick oats with whatever my fruit of the day happens to be on top. It seems to stick with me longer than other snacks. It's fast to make and eat on a break.
  • I always have cashews, fruit snacks and an apple on hand. Sometimes string cheese also.

  • I always have a banana, an orange, jello cups, and almonds.  Sometimes chips - chex mix or wheat thins - but I know that's not healthy :)

    MFM Appointment 9/26/2013 = Both babies healthy, cervix now measuring at 4 - Playing tricks on me ... will follow up in 2 weeks.
    Cervical check 10/7 with regular OB - 2.1cm  --- going BACK to the MFM armed with ultrasound pictures from my OB of my cervix. *sigh*
    MFM Appointment 10/8 - confirmed my cervix at 2.1cm - putting me on Progesterone for a week.
    MFM Appointment 10/17 - Cervix unchanged! Keeping me on Progesterone - followup 10/29

  • I eat yogurt as a "second breakfast." Then I usually have applesauce or a fruit cup for a snack after lunch.
