Baby sign language

I've been really working on getting Aidan to sign some words, since he's still not verbal.

Last night I was signing "milk", and at 3:30am when he woke up, I tried putting him back down and he took his paci out and began signing for milk.
This may have been a bad idea, he's too cute to say no to!
Anyone else do baby signing?

Re: Baby sign language

  • We do, it's been great for us. DD does more, milk, water, all done, eat and she's just started doing book and change. Mealtime got a whole lot quieter once she was able to communicate her wants.

  • DS knows the signs for milk, hungry, and more. He used the sign for milk A LOT when he first learned it around 8 or 9 mo but rarely uses it now that he doesn't have bottles. He uses "hungry" and "more" on a regular basis... but I know what you mean... it's great that they can communicate... but how do you tell them no? haha

  • We had some flash cards but hadn't worked on them much with DD. Then my in-laws came to visit and taught her a whole bunch of signs in just a few days. Now she does more, all done, fan, banana, etc.

  • DS signs "more" and "all done".  He does "all done" whenever he doesn't want to do something like sit in the shopping cart or like pp said stay in his high chair.  He only signs more when he wants to give the dog a treat... not sure what he is thinking there. lol

  • We do! The baby signing time videos are GREAT. I love them for traveling because the music is catchy and isn't annoying at all. DD knows signs for milk, more, please, hat, fish, bird, dog, eat, and baby (my favorite).
