H is at Immediate Care with J. He woke up this morning saying his penis was swollen. I looked and it is so swollen. It looks like a blown up water balloon. It looks like he has some bites on it, he was out in high grassy wooded areas yesterday with H. Maybe chiggers. In any case, I am freaking out. I called the doctor and she said if there is pain to take him in but that she has seen stuff like this before. We gave him benedryl and it helped some but it's still really swollen. And then it started hurting to touch. So they went on in and I'm here with A and Em. So worried. Please pray for Joaquin.

Thanks everybody. They are home already and the doctor says it's bugbites for sure. It's still super swollen, it looks scary. Now what we do is wait, dose with benedryl and ibuprofin, use hydrocortizone on the skin and make him sit still for two days (not an easy task for a 7 year old boy). We have to moniter to make sure it doesn't get much more swollen because if it does it could interfere with urination and then he'd have to be hospitalized with a cath. Thank you so much for your t&p's, they mean a lot!

I'm glad to hear it's nothing worse than bug bites, although still praying for a fast recovery. My older DS use to be allergic to bug bites (never knew there was such a thing). Basically... whenever ANY type of bug bit him, the area would swell up something fierce. Even tiny bugs like a mite. He outgrew that eventually... but it made for a few scary ER visits and lots of Benedryl.

Poor guy! I doubt there are worse places to feel pain for a little boy. I hope they find answers and a remedy soon! KUP. I'll be praying for him.

Thanks ladies. H is off on a daddy daughter date and both boys are sound asleep in my bed like little sardines. I've been googling. Apparently there is this thing called "summer penile syndrome" that's basically a severe reaction to chiggar bites on the penis, swelling, itching, etc. Who knew?

Today was really hard.

I'm so glad to see an update. It sounds horrible but at least it should heal easily enough. H had to have an emergency circ when he was 8 because of something that happened to him and he still remembers the trauma of it.

Thanks again, everybody, for all the love! I am happy to report the swelling has mostly subsided this evening after dosing with the meds all day. Thank goodness! @baker_bride how traumatic for your H!!! Yikes. J was circ'ed as an infant so I knew it had nothing to do with that...it was so strange. Dang chiggers!

Oh my gosh- I'm sure that was awful! So happy that he is on the mend now. Remember last year when Logan had poison ivy everywhere? It was everywhere. Penises - peni?? hmm.. you just don't mess with them. Scary!

Oh man! That is horrible!! So glad you were quick thinking and sent him to the docs! Poor little guys weewee... Christian is not circ'd and he one time pulled his foreskin all the way up over and he was freaking out at his sensitive peepee. He didn't want to move and I didn't know what to do...LOL! Thanks to DH who saved the saved the day by pulling it back down (duh!!) and Christian said "papi fixed my peepee" lol... boys and their peepees.. who know it was gonna be this serious!
