ER tomorrow

I triggered last night and have my ER scheduled for 9:40 tomorrow morning. I'm excited about the potential of actually being pregnant by this time next week (assuming all goes well and we can do a fresh transfer), but I'm also a little nervous. The last time I got anesthesia with my legs in stirrups, was last November for my D&E. The idea of anything feeling remotely similar to that immediately makes my stomach turn. Hopefully I'm able to relax and find a happy place in my mind to retreat to. And fingers crossed that when I wake up I hear about a good amount of eggs retrieved and mature.

If you have been through a retrieval, do you have any post-retrieval advice for me?

TIA!

  • No experience, just wanted to say good luck!!
  • Good luck! Go home and relax after (as best you can). I was a bit sore after, so the hour ride home was a bit uncomfortable but def tolerable. It was nice to get home and lay in the couch and "relax" when it was over. I hope all goes well and you get great results. :)

  • Thanks ladies! @chrissynena How long after your ER could you resume normal activity? I'm a school teacher and a group exercise instructor, so I'm rarely sitting still. I don't think school will be an issue as I teach 8th grade, so I can sit down a lot if I have to. I have no problem taking more time off teaching fitness classes, but I'm wondering how long I will need to get subs. I know everyone is different, but I'm just trying to get a general idea. TIA!

Good luck with your retrieval! I will say that for mine, once my legs were laid into the little handle things, I was out... I looked at the ceiling it was twirling, and the next thing I knew I was waking up.  I did go home and eat, then took a nap, and I was back at work the next day. (I am at a desk most of my day) I ate lots of salty food and drank Gatorade.  I did get a big belly, but I'm just hiding it the best I can.

  • I hope everything went well, keep us posted! After my ER I rested that afternoon and then for the next couple days I tried to limit my activity with DD. For example, DH took over bath duty and carrying her around when needed. After a few days I was back to normal, and luckily I had barely any side effects. Drink lots of gatorade!

After 3 failed Clomid+TI cycles, DD was conceived with IUI#1

    TTC #2

    Clomid 50 mg + IUI#1  = BFP, m/c and D&C at 7w1d

    Clomid 50mg + IUI#2 = BFN

    Clomid 100mg + IUI#3 = BFN

    Lupron + Follistim + IVF#1 = 11ER, 10M, 10F, ET of 1 expanded BBA 5-day blast, 2 Frosties. BFP! Beta 10/13 = 264! Beta 10/15 = 702! EDD 6/21/14

  • It was later that night I felt much better. I did take a full two weeks off from work after the ET, I know they say you don't have to but I have a very busy hands on retail management job and didn't want to take any chances.
@freakyfast jealous about your medication during the process. My meds were just to make me drowsy and didn't take effect until it was all done. :/
