WWYD

In 2 weeks I planned on moving ds to his crib in his own room. he'll be 3 months. but he just started rolling over onto his stomach this past weekend. and now I'm nervous to put him in his own room. but I'm afraid the bassinet isn't big enough for him anymore bc he moved so much. would you try the crib in 2 weeks?

Re: WWYD

  • We started Jack in his crib from the beginning, and one thing I learned with both kids is that regardless of when you put them in there, they will roll around. If he can roll and lift his own head he should be fine, as long as there is nothing around him that he can get his face in, and his sheets are tight. Maybe try just letting him nap in there first, so you can watch him.

  • And some babies are just more comfy when they aren't on their backs!
  • Our doc told us once she could roll onto her tummy by herself that she could sleep on her tummy. Also, daycare laws in WA state that all babies must be placed in their cribs on their backs but if they roll onto their tummy you can leave them there. Those two things made me comfortable letting her roll around and sleep in her crib.

I believe she went into her crib around 3 months but not into her own room until 6 months.

  • I would move him now. Once they roll the bassinet is more of a danger than the crib. You will not be able to stop them from sleeping on their stomachs once they start rolling, just keep the crib safe like the pp said.

  • We had to move DS to pack and play because he moved to much in the bassinet...now we need to move to crib because he moves to much in the pack and play. He sleeps on his tummy...that is the only way he will sleep.

  • @ctgirl30 Aww I'm sorry! I was hoping he would let you guys sleep.
  • Maybe we will try the pack n play for the next 2 weeks and let him get used to the extra space then in 2 weeks put him in his own room. Thank you ladies so much!
