Winter wedding

Help me, parenting fashionistas! What do I wear to a winter wedding? I'm always cold and hate being cold, so I'm looking for maximum warmth + style. Can I wear my new boots or are they too casual? Hellllllllp!

    I prefer short dress, long dresses don't look good on me. You think sweater dress is ok? Just not with flat boots? Could I do a long sleeve dress with a scarf or is a scarf too casual?

    I'm, like, scared to give a fashion opinion lol  I don't think those boots are wedding appropriate for the weddings I've been to.  Is this outdoors?  An indoor cocktail-type wedding would force me into black pants and heels at my most casual.
