Is anyone swaddling still?

P is 12 weeks & we swaddle for naps and sleep. Tonight he does not want to be swaddled or sleep. DH thinks we should try not swaddling tonight but I'm not sure. He's pretty jumpy and wakes himself up from naps if I don't put him in his swaddle wrap. He's not fussy or crying, he just doesn't want to sleep. He usually goes down around 730-8. He's wide awake ha.

Last night was the first night we didn't and it was kind of on accident. He fell asleep before we swaddled him and we didn't want to wake him to swaddle him - haha. So we're going to just see how it goes again tonight without the swaddle.

  • He will fall asleep on me unswaddled but wakes up as soon as I move him
  • Yep. We did w/DD1 until 5m bc she was constantly breaking out of our escape proof swaddle. We will wait until that point w/DD2 probably.

  • We stopped around two weeks. But I started swaddling for naps again recently. He's eleven weeks and it is really helping.
  • No we stopped about a month ago. She does not like her arms and feet covered so she was always breaking out of the swaddle. I made her a sack to sleep in since it is getting chilly out since I can't cover her.
  • We are still swaddling here with no plans to stop anytime soon.

  • I put him in the swaddle me but don't confine his arms as he doesn't like it anymore.
  • We swaddle and see no reason to stop in the near future.

  • We swaddle but just at night. We never did swaddle for naps.
  • Stopped swaddling once she started rolling
  • We still swaddle. She's been sleeping shorter stretches though. I'm hoping to try transitioning out of RnP and trying Merlin's magic sleep suit this week. I think our noises are waking her up so she's probably going to have to move to her own room. :(
  • We still swaddle. It has been our biggest challenge. He needs to be swaddled because his arms are crazy but squirms around so much in the swaddle to try and get his arms out that it can get over his mouth. This kid needs to start rolling so e can make himself comfortable or the Moro reflex needs to be done with

P has no desire to roll. Boo. Hopefully soon.
  • I'm afraid not to.  So yeah we still do.  DS sleeps from 7:30 p - 4:30 a most nights (not always but most nights) I have no desire to piss with that, I'll swaddle him until he's 25 if need be ;)

  • We still do here! That's his cue that it's bedtime. He almost immediately gets one arm out to suck his thumb and falls asleep like that. His moro is pretty much gone.

  • Half swaddle here. 14 weeks.
  • DD is 11 weeks, we quit swaddling about a week ago. She's never been a huge fan, but one night I was out of swaddled and we just put her in a regular sleep sack to see how she would do...no problems she STTN

  • I think we are only one not swaddling. We stopped almost immediately he hated it. He pretty much STTN for the last two weeks and before that 4-5 hour stretches. He is still in RNP I am going to be sad to give that up. When he falls asleep on flat surfaces ie bed/floor he sleeps spread eagle.

  • Hell, I'm still swaddling Ian and he's in a harness for his hips. We have to use this really big one to make sure it's baggy enough at his hips and legs. It's ridiculous.

  • We still swaddle at 11 weeks in the halo and wont stop until it becomes an issue. DD fights going in it, but once wrapped up, she knows its time to sleep, naps and bed time.

  • DD has never really had a preference.  We do some nights, other nights we don't.  It kinda depends what pj's shes wearing too.  I don't want her to get too warm.

Still swaddling over here as well but thinking about stopping because after a few hours she starts fussing in her sleep, arching her back and turning her head... I **think** she is trying to roll over? So that would lead me to stop swaddling, but I REALLY don't want to  :(( She sleeps so much better swaddled.

Edit: She already rolls from tummy to back when doing tummy time, but hasn't yet rolled back to tummy.

  • There is absolutely no harm in swaddling. I know very well adjusted toddlers who were swaddled till 9 and even 12 months.

That being said, yes, we swaddle every night and nap. Everyone gets better sleep when LO is swaddled.

  • I just started not swaddling both arms this week.  E didn't seem to mind the swaddle but would break out most nights.  With that and starting to roll over, I thought that it was time.  I started leaving one arm out last week and we are double free-limbing it this week.  So far, so good.
  • Oh yeah. Tried to go without once & she was up twice. Swaddled she sttn
  • We stopped swaddling last week. When it gets cold out, I may put her in her back in the halo sleep sack and leave her arms out... but so far so good!
  • Definitely still swaddling. She does love to break her arm out and pull some other houdini moves at points, but her startle reflex is too much for us not to.
