Holy separation anxiety.

Out of seemingly nowhere, I can't walk more than 3 feet away from Ginny without her flipping out and starting the "mamamamamama cry." Also, she now hates her car seat. Who replaced my calm, independent baby?!?!

  • Same. This weekend she cried her way to napping on me... Plus anytime DH would get her it just made it worse. He tried so hard to give me a break. We were doing so well with sleeping in her crib but no not now.

  • DD is starting this too. It is frustrating to hand a happy baby to DH and she instantly starts fussing. But I take her back and she's fine.

I wouldn't mind so much if DH actually helped while I have the baby... The dishes don't magically wash themselves, nor does dinner miraculously prepare itself.

  • DS has been the same way, especially with the car seat. He has screamed the past 3 car rides we've been on :/

  • My LO started doing this too. When she does the mamamama cry, H always says 'oh you better go get her, she wants her mom'  gee thanks ;)

  • If you buy into the wonder weeks, this is the period when they are understanding "distances" and supposedly get fussier when you walk away.

  • Same here. My once calm, laid back baby who would go to anyone is all about his mom now! He could be perfectly content playing and as SOON as I walk by or in his sight, he goes into meltdown mode. He's reaching for me constantly now! Ahhhh!

@jss1002do you have the Wonder Weeks book?  Is it worth it?  I have the app, but it doesn't include a lot of detail.

No, I just have the app and I don't always buy into what it says, but this recent phase about "distances" was spot on for us -- clingy baby, big time.

  • Bradley does it too. the worst is at 3am like this morning. he finally fell asleep in bed with me. that was the only way to calm him down.

  • @JSS1002 I thought the same thing about wonder weeks. I don't know if I buy into it but am thinking about it but this is the first thing I thought of. I'm thinking about buying the book and learning more.
