Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Mimicking adult things

So DS likes to pick up toys that are about the same size as my phone.  He then puts them to his ear (or really kinda behind his ear since his coordination isn't great) and "talks" to them.  I've started picking up my phone and having conversations with him.  He gets happy and drops the toy on the floor.  It's so cute to watch.
DS is a twin and they just turned 15 months today.  He has been doing this for about 2 weeks.  I'm not worried at all but is this normal for this age?  His sister doesn't do this yet but she does babble and talk more than he does, just not into toys.  lol

  • Yes, pretty normal. DD has been doing things like that for a while.

  • Yesterday DS pulled a business card out of my phone case (I've got a case that holds cards too) and held the card up like a phone.  This morning when I called DH, he said that DS put the remote control up to his ear to "talk" on the phone too.  We have "conversations" like this all the time now :)
