Is that weird? I'm 17 weeks and honestly I don't really care what people think on Facebook but for some reason feel like in obligated to announce it to the world. Has anyone else not posted or feel the same?
Me either. I figure I'll put up a photo of my 20-week u/s, which is in 3 weeks. Everyone I still actually talk to knows, so my high school friends can wait a few more weeks.
I did one but I am one that ONLY has people as my friends I talk to regularly. No random people from high school or work or anytbing like that, so most of them already knew once I did an official one.
I don't think you have to do an official one unless you want to. All I did was write OVbunEN and tagged dh. No fun picture or anything like that
Thanks ladies! It's not so much that I want to, it's more like i feel obligated. I have a lot of friends that posted their u/s pics and what not all over fb but I just don't feel it's necessary. I like the idea of a birth announcement but that's all ill probably end up doing.
I posted a picture of my bump last week during my 19th week. Even then, I hesitated, since everyone we care about knew. They're on FB too. I won't be posting U/S pics. I find those really personal. And I won't be giving updates there. I'll continue my monthly email to family and friends out of town.
I haven't, and I won't. I have told/will tell everyone who matters via phone or email. The rest will get a birth announcement via mail. To be clear, I have nothing against FB announcements (and am often the first to wish people a hearty congrats), but it's just not my style.
I haven't yet, but I plan on it after the 20w a/s. This way we can share the sex at the same time. I limit my friends list so most already know we're expecting from us telling them in person. The announcement will catch those that I haven't seen in the last 4 mos.

Sorry...this reply turned out to be much longer than I intended when I started typing LOL
We
only posted on FB because DH has a lot of extended family around the
country, and it would take us DAYS to call everyone...not to mention
that he doesn't have the relationships with his cousins where it would
make sense to call them when a simple FB post would do. It was the
simplest, easiest way to inform his family. I could care less what the
people I went to high school with that I don't talk to anymore think.
On a side note, I've been an FB
user since shortly after it was first developed (developed in Feb 2004,
and I joined in Dec 2004-ish), and it has been really interesting to
watch how it has developed this weird culture of people having to share
their lives with the world and people they barely know. Don't feel "obligated" to post. Do what feels most comfortable to you!!!!
I haven't posted yet but I think I will when I find out the gender on Friday. Sadly, my husband does not like the proposed Youtube video that i wanted to post with it, the Spaceballs alien scene. I just think it would be funny.
I haven't and am undecided if I will. It's not that I'm against the fb peeps knowing, I just don't care if they do or not. Everyone who matters to me has known. Prevent distant family have found out through the grapevine.
I haven't either. I don't really care if everyone knows but I thought I would maybe do something after I know what I'm having. It just isn't a big deal to me.
We just did the other day, after we confirmed the baby's sex. We also both have huge extended families who we know would like to know the news, but it would be awkward and cumbersome to call everyone. Of course, everyone we are close with already knew, but there were random cousins and stuff who hadn't heard through the grapevine.
I haven't and probably won't be. I only use FB for funny/silly stuff. I don't like it when I know of every time someone's baby has kicked or the damn name before it's even born.
DH and I did do a fb announcement. If he didn't have family scattered all over the world, we would have skipped it though. I refuse to post u/s pictures on fb. I don't want my "insides" to be on the Internet.
I haven't yet and I might just wait and do a birth announcement. I'm not opposed to them at all but, like others have said, the people who are close to us already know and I'm not sure if the random friends from high school and college need to know. I might change my mind after the 20 week scan.
We may say something after the anatomy scan and once we know the sex. It isn't weird. Most posts about pregnancy I see on my feed our the sex announcement. I guess it mainly depends on who you are friends with.
We haven't and aren't planning on it. Everyone who is close already knows and most people around town know (small town) because I'm already showing so much. Those extra acquaintances on Facebook really don't need/prob don't care to know right now.
In my opinion announcing on Facebook is over rated....idk if its because I'm not big on fb but just think its a little over rated....plus, a lot of people prob don't care until maybe your farther along ..idk
Dont take what I say personal please just my opinion and if u really care to announce on fb then go for it!!
We have no plans to post it on facebook. We have shared our news the old fashioned way with our friends and family. There is no need to spread the news to old co-workers or high school friends I haven't talked to in 15 years. Plus, it makes it more special to tell everyone in person.
We literally JUST did a FB announcement at 20w. I did it as a celebration for myself It felt good to not be "hiding" anymore ALSO my mom and dad have been going nuts, along with a few in-laws, that we wouldn't let them put anything on FB

I will be 20 weeks on Wednesday and I haven't done it. I don't plan to either. Frankly, anyone who I actually care about knowing has been told in person or by email. I have no desire to share my pregnancy with people I don't speak to on a regular basis. That's just my opinion though.
I haven't and I won't. I'm not on FB that much and when I am it's just to look at someone else's post. So, it would be odd for me to make a pregnancy post.
we haven't yet, but DH really wants to do an announcement to his extended circle. i did lock down my account so the people we've told already don't start filling my feed with HOW ARE YOU FEEEEEEELING? posts. i'm not looking forward to all of that once we are out on FB.

This time the plan is to not tell anyone I'm pregnant until Christmas (if I can hide it that long).
