Advertising on FB

Does anyone have any experience advertising on facebook? I woke up this morning feeling frustrated and fed up with our agency. It's just my own impatience, their poor communication, etc. They keep saying to advertise independently- well okay then. So I'm researching how to advertise with FB- has anyone had a good experience with this?

    We found advertising on FB to be a waste of money.  Only did it for about a month and felt like it was a waste of money.  You can create your own Adoption FB page and just try to network with that to friends and friends of friends.  GL.
