One nap

Is anybody's LO taking one nap yet? Kiera has been skipping a nap now and then but then this week she hardly took two naps at all. Twice she skipped the morning, and then I think she skipped an afternoon one too. I read an article that said at 15 months or so they'll start doing stuff like this and you'll think they're ready for one, but don't believe it. I don't want to do it before she's ready but I don't want to go back to fighting the nap battle again if she doesn't really need two. I suspect she may be getting her second molars, but I'm not sure.

Re: One nap

  • Dagny went down to 1 nap over a month ago. She's never been a great napper but she was fighting the morning one hardcore. She now goes down around 12/12:30 and naps for about 2 hours.

  • Elena takes one nap ranging anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours. Everyday is different...I guess she likes to keep things interesting.

  • Since he started daycare last month, G has just been taking one short nap in the morning (maybe an hour). Sometimes on the weekends I can still get him to take two, but it's rare. But, he sleeps about 12-13 hours per night, so I'm not too worried about a shorter nap.

  • Veronica switched to one nap a month ago. She just stopped napping in the morning.

  • Thank you. Did you all do it gradually, like moving their morning nap back a bit each day? Or did they just drop the nap? Do you give them lunch before or after?

She goes down around 12:30ish, so I try to do lunch before. Since she's all over the board with nap lengths I'd rather she eat incase she's naps longer.

  • I made the switch after a week of fighting and refusing the morning nap. I just went all at once since that seemed to be what she was doing on her own. She has lunch around 11:30 then goes down for her afternoon nap around 12/12:30.

  • Thank you all. She's an early riser (5:30-6) so I'm thinking she'll probably lean towards 11 and then lunch after.
