Baby ance

So I'm sure there's a topic on this tried looking but couldn't find anything my baby is 6 weeks today and has/had baby ance which now feels like sand paper all over his face and is almost like peeling dead skin ... Has anyone had this or recommend anything to put on it? When I took him to the doctor it was still at the little bump stage and she said to do nothing but since it looks so dryed out I thought maybe I should try putting something on it ? Thanks!

Re: Baby ance

  • Breast milk.

  • When you put the breast milk on it do you leave it on or put it on and wipe it off after so long?
  • Breast milk or nothing. It will go away on its own in time.
  • I would call my pedi. Say you think it's getting worse and ask their opinion on what to put on it.

When we were last at the doctor I mentioned that I thought her baby acne was getting worse and it turns out it's actually the beginning of eczema, not baby acne. We were told baby oil after every bath and lotion daily.

I usually leave it on and let it dry. It also helps with eczema.

  • We were told to use this, although nothing was fine too ( per pediatrician).

It did help, after about three days of applying twice daily.

  • I have the same problem on DD. I used BM and it helped but was still very dry and peeling. The nurse at my Drs office recommended putting Aveeno for eczema on it as well. I haven't tried the lotion bc the BM seems to be doing the job on its own.

  • I uses BM to clear up what little acne DS had. Though there was still a small patch as you are describing your LO has and ped said its part of the cradke cap. It's dry red and bumpy could be mistaken for baby acne but it doesn't go away. Some days it will be worse than others- more red/dry- the BM does help it not be so bad but it hasn't gone away

  • I use a teeny bit of baby oil just on the flaky skin, but if I had BM if try that first.
  • We use Vanicream (our allergist recommends it) and works really well.
  • My LO had it at about five weeks, it went away after about a week....  I have been wiping her face and hands on the days that she doesn't get baths (we bathe her about three times a week) with Johnson and Johnson's face and hand wipes, and making sure that I use Aveeno baby lotion on her dry spots, and it hasn't come back.

  • I'm in camp Breast Milk. I never ever thought I would be smearing that all over my darling baby's face but dang if it doesn't work!
  • Our doctor said LO had baby acne, but it wouldn't go away. Breast milk improved it, for sure, but there were always lots of little dry red bumps. I tried aveeno eczema cream on a whim and it disappeared in 2 days.

  • How do you all apply BM to the face? I feel dumb, but just on a rag? Squirt it on the face? What works?

I express some into a cotton ball and wipe it on. I don't know if that's the best way or not, but it works.

  • I used BM and it did help but as soon as I used a little aquifor it cleared up in 2 days.. Could have just been a timing thing , but she had it for over 2 weeks at that point.

  • Lily had it at first but it started to get worst I took her to the ped and it turns out she had an egg sensitivity. It's much better now that I have omitted eggs. It was spreading to her scalp, back, and chest and she was constantly rubbing her mouth on burp cloths. The doctor now thinks it's regular eczema and I put aquaphor on her cheeks.
