C-sections

Post c-section workout DVD recs?

I am 4 weeks PP with my first c-section.  I am wanting to workout as soon as I get the okay from my doctor (hopefully in 2 weeks).  I don't like to go to the gym and much prefer working out at home to a DVD.  Pre-pregnancy I used to do the 30 day shred on and off.  During pregnancy I switched to a prenatal workout DVD, but didn't do much during my 3rd trimester due to severe swelling.  I know I can't jump right back into Jillian Michael's workout, so what would you recommend for someone post c-section who hasn't worked out in a while?  Has anyone tried Tracy Anderson's PP DVD?  I don't want anything too hard because I'm scared of working out post c-section.

Re: Post c-section workout DVD recs?

  • I really like Tracey Mallett's "Get Your Body Back" DVD, which is aimed at mom's PP.  Short circuit workouts - you can do one or two, or all seven (I think there's seven anyway!).  I also had a C-Section, and started doing this DVD after my 6 week post-partum checkup when they okayed exercising.  Personally I didn't like Tracy Anderson's DVD - it was all floor work, and I was looking for some cardio/sculpting, which is what I was doing pre-pregnancy.  Also been doing a lot of Zumba DVDs and classes, which seemed to be no problem 6 weeks PP.  Hope that helps!

  • lindsay brin (moms into fitness) postnatal bootcamp and CFS (core firing sequence). They worked great after having my son and she has free trials available so you can try before you buy which is nice. She has 3 different levels and very customizable workouts there is also a beginner and advanced set. They use hand weights, body resistance and an occasional towel/blanket depending on your ability. I've done the Jillian Michaels thing and I prefer Lindsays technique and like the fact she's done her research to target the prenatal/postnatal period. She's had 3 c-sections herself so she knows what it takes to get your body back and she also targets exercises for diastisis recti.
