umbilical hernia?

Just curious if anyone else LO is having this issue. We noticed our sons about 1 week ago. I called our Ped (she's a family friend) on a Friday evening and she wasn't in town. When I saw her at church that Sunday she said that's exactly what it was and said it wasn't cause for concern. It looks swollen and a bit irritated and uncomfortable.

Baby seems to be unphased by it, but it worries me. Anybody elses Ped say differently?

    DD had an umbilical hernia and it went away all in its on. It took some time but no treatment or surgery was necessary. I think it took about a year and a half to completely go away.

    They can take years to go away. If they haven't resolved when they get close to school age its unlikely they'll go away so they can be fixed surgically

    DD has it too. My ped said the same thing your did. She isn't phased by it so I'm not either. I think it just bothers us becuase we can see it.

    I have one since birth and it's never been a problem. It became a bit more apparent when I was pregnant but it still wasn't a problem.
