Trouble TTC

Intro (after chemical pregnancy)

I'm KR.

DH and I have only been trying since March, but luckily I was charting and was able to identify that I have a luteal phase defect.  Took my charts to my doctor after we'd been trying for 6 months and showed her that my luteal phase was between 7 and 9 days long.  She put me on progesterone and that resulted in a chemical pregnancy (most likely due to the fact that my progesterone levels were still somewhat low).  She decided that it was in our best interest for me to go see an RE in case there is an underlying problem causing the low progesterone.  Unfortunately, his earliest appointment is November 27th so I have a bit of a wait still.

I was pretty upset on Tuesday and Wednesday, but I'm okay about it now.  The due date would have been my sister's birthday though, so I was looking forward to that.

I posted on the trying to get pregnant board regularly when we first started trying, but I don't post there as frequently anymore.

I'll be 30 in 2 weeks, DH is 33.  We live in Houston.

  • Im sorry you're here but welcome.

is there any other RE's in your area? Once you start there is a lot of testing and sometimes it could be 2 cycles before you get a game plan so I would want to start asap.

My RE agreed to let my OBGYN do the initial testing so maybe that's an option? GL

  • Sorry about your chemical. Welcome & good luck!

  • There are others in my area, but this guy is supposed to be one of the best in the country.  My obgyn gave me a few choices, but this was the one closest to my husband's work.
  • I'm so sorry. I had a chemical in June. I know exactly how you feel. I also have low progesterone. Every month you'll build up more and more progesterone. Hopefully there are no other issues and the RE will help you in little time. Try calling to see if there were any cancelations. Good luck. ::hugs::

  • I am on a list where they'll call me if they get any cancellations.  I won't be surprised if my problem is weak ovulation.  I've only managed to turn an OPK positive once, and that was an iffy positive.  We'll see.
  • Chemicals are devastating losses.
Would you consider setting up some other consultations? If you don't like this RE you'll be back at square one without any choices.  I would rather interview a few.

  • Sorry about the CP *hugs to you* Please let us know how your appt turns out! I'm glad you got in earlier than expected. When we started at the RE, they monitored me on an unmedicated cycle to see what my body was doing on its own (not much! haha). Hopefully they can do the same for you and give you guys a good game plan. Make sure DH has an SA done as well...just to cover all bases. GL to you!
