Hi Moms! I am a new mother to a 9 week old. My daughter had horrible reactions when I supplemented only 2 oz with Gerber Good start gentle and similac supplementation, on separate occasions, she has mainly been BF.
After 2 hours of ingesting those formulas she vomited (out of mouth and nose) 8 times and dry heaved. Checked ingredients both contain whey and lactose. After this episode she also developed congestion then ear infection. Don't know if it is related. Anyone have a similar episode?
Dr. from beginning said she had colic which doesn't really help in any way. She has been on half my breast milk and half alimentum (doesn't make her vomit but somewhat constipates her) I have also cut out dairy the past week to see if it helps. She has always been super fussy and irritable. I was looking into silent reflux as well because she has several symptoms but don't want to assume she has that. I know it seems there is a dairy intolerance/ allergy because when I had a lot of cheese/cream she had terrible gas. She has never thrown up from my BM but has gotten some skin issues. Now they have cleared up with Alimentum and a 1.5 week being off dairy. She is on antibiotics currently to get rid of an ear infection. I am wondering if vomiting or milk allergy can lead to ear infections. Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you need to supplement? If you don't need to I would stop now b/c it will affect your milk supply. Stay dairy free and make an apt with a Ped. Allergist. The signs your LO is having is classic dairy allergy symptoms and continued dairy exposure can be dangerous b/c reactions typically get worse with each exposure.
Good news is dairy allergies are typically outgrown. Dd1 is 4 and she will hopefully outgrow it by next year. Her numbers are almost in the non allergy range but not quite there yet.
