April 2013 Moms

gymnurstics.

Anyone else struggling with this? I didn't nurse DS1 long enough to go through this, but DS2 recently likes to get into the craziest positions when he's nursing. When we side lie he will pop into all fours and rock while still latched. It's anything but comfortable. Is this going to continue through it entire nursing relationship?

  • YES. She tries to play with her feet, tries to reach around me so her hands can touch, and god help me if she gets distracted by a noise. She's gonna look around and take then nipple with her. :((

  • I've heard that wearing a pendent necklace and encouraging baby to fidget with that can help. They are old enough now to learn nursing manners. Try calmly asking and showing what you want and if the negative behavior continues you put them down mid-nursing. They cry, you pick up, remind them how to nurse, relatch. . . Rinse repeat.
I got great ideas from my local chapter of La Leche League. You should be able to contact the leader for free advice.

PS I was trying to click on April14, but I'm still nursing at 25 months.
  • @Knitfaced I can barely wrangle one child while nursing. You impress me!!

Ugh, yes! And if they aren't wiggling around like crazy and "talking" to the other one, they are scratching each other in the face and pulling hair.  I almost feel like the tandem nursing isn't working so well any more because they distract each other to no end.  I feel like a referee during our nursing sessions.

Praise you ^:)^ , my child likes to "jump" out of my arms

  • My baby just slaps me the whole time. On my chest, neck and face. It's kinda funny but not so much at 4am.

  • Yes! I get slapped, grabbed, pinched, and scratched. Now that we are done using a shield, I'm realizing just how hard he sucks. When we were still at the hospital, one nurse said it was the strongest suck she had seen in six months. Last, nip lash occurs at least three times every session. So, ouch.

  • Nursing sessions take so long sometimes because DS gets so distracted! He will pull off whenever he hears a different sound, when daddy's in the room he will look for him, and sometimes he unlatches and just smiles up at me and starts "talking" (which is really cute, so I can't be annoyed haha). He also grabs my face and his feet, and kicks me sometimes haha its fun!

  • DS gets distracted by everything. It's amazing how far my nipples can stretch!
