1st Trimester

Vomiting all of a sudden at 12w3d?

As a STM, I feel like I should know the answer, but I didn't have morning sickness at all with my first so this is new territory for me. I'm 12w3d pregnant, and I've had moderate nausea this pregnancy, but never actually threw up. Today about 30 minutes to an hour after lunch it hit me hard, and I just HAD to throw up. Badly. My whole lunch. I felt fine immediately afterward (not even any lingering nausea), and it hasn't happened since. But should I be concerned? Anyone have any experience with random bouts of vomiting this late in first tri? TIA. :)

  • Could it have been what you ate?

  • Possibly... Though it was just stir fried vegetables and a small bite of chicken (made myself, so I know it was cooked thoroughly at least). Unless the chicken itself was bad, I'm not sure what it could have been. I ate so very little of it, I'm surprised it would have affected me at all.

  • The same exact thing happened to me about a week or so ago. I definitely think it was what I ate. Along with morning sickness, it just wasn't a good combo. I was already having a hard time getting it down, like every meal I eat, then went back to bed. When I woke up I felt soooo sick. It took about an hour of going back and forth to the bathroom thinking I would get sick until I finally did throw up. I had eggs with cheese. I think just too much dairy for this mama

  • It could have been a combination of ms and what you ate. Baby probably just didn't want what you ate.

  • This happens occasionally to me, I'm in my second trimester but I don't think it's anything to worry about. I'm just happy that I'm not throwing up all the time anymore! Sometimes, I just find foods that no longer agree with my stomach. I feel fine after and it's pretty quick. I wouldn't really worry about it. It's just one of those lovely occurrences we get to deal with during pregnancy!

  • If you had to throw up 30 mins after eating and felt fine afterwards, it sounds like bad food. I've had that a few times in life. Usually after a take out or restaurant meal. Eat it, feel bad, puke, feel fine.

  • You can develop nausea at any time during pregnancy. Some people even develop it in 3rd tri.

  • Sounds like just another pregnancy thing.  I had really bad nausea for the first 2 trimesters, but rarely threw up.  Occasionally, your body just needs to purge. I also had days where I would dry heave and not actually vomit, sometimes before eating, sometimes after.
