Was that 4 shots total? Our appointment is tomorrow and I'm debating whether I should go for the flu shot on top of the other three. How was A after shots?
Yeah she got 4 total. She cried longer in the office, but afterward it was like nothing ever happened. No fever, no crankiness, no extra clinginess. She was sleepy, but her naps also sucked that day.

Yup. Mine got it at her 1 year appointment with the other 3. She was more sad about getting shots in general this time but was fine after..maybe a little more cranky the past couple days but nothing too crazy. She got shots Monday.
Our appointment is the 23rd and we plan on doing the flu shot with her other vaccines. I hadn't thought about it being 4 shots! Poor thing. I would be miserable after that.
Our pediatrician had to cancel DD2's 1 year checkup due to a death in the family so we're not going in till late October. Since 1 year olds need 2 flu shots, I brought both girls in yesterday and got mine there too. She did the silent cry afterwards, but I didn't think it hurt much in general. she was fine afterwards. My arm is still a little sore today, but just to the touch.
@BabyCarryingVessel According to the website for my doc, kids under 8 who are getting the flu shot for the first time might need two shots. We haven't gone yet though so no personal experience yet.
First flu shot is 2 shots about a month apart. If they get a flu shot every year after that it is just one shot. If they miss a shot then it is 2 again the next year. I think that is until 5 or 8 years old.
Mbm, we answered a questionnaire, and we didn't need tb test based on our answers. It was stuff like "was baby born outside of US, and have any family members traveled outside of US?" Did you answer yes to any of those things?
We got her first 2 doses in the spring at 6 and 7 months old, as soon as she was old enough. She'll get this year's shot, too. The more protection the better, IMO. Especially with me working at a hospital
I vaccinate we just don't do flu shot. DH and I both don't get the shot and we didn't as kids either. I am not anti meds but I do try natural remedies first. I don't like that the shot has different stuff in it every year and that you have to be injected with it every year. Just a personal decision in our family.

Devils advocate is fine! They guess when they are making the shot and to me that means I'm injecting myself with a lot of stuff and it may not even work so I take my chances. My BFF got the flu shot last year and she also got the flu last year. I know people who got the shot and didn't get the flu. My whole family including extended didn't get te shot and we didn't get the flu. It's a cra

Oh and I am not anti flu shot. Our family just doesn't do it. Anti vax people think everyone shouldn't get vaccinations and they don't understand why people do. I am not like that at all. I get why people get the flu shot it's just not for us.

@nealbl curious if you've had the flu in the past several years?
I had it in 2007, one year that I missed the shot when I changed employers, and it was horrible and I will always do everything I can to minimize my risk. That week or two of illness left a big print on me!
@nealbl personally I think working in a school would make me much more likely to change my mind. Kids pass germs like crazy.
Hopefully you'll stay lucky and you won't get sick.
DD1 has been in daycare for two years she is already bringing home the same germs I'm exposed too. I'm not saying we won't one day get it but the shot doesn't guarantee we won't get it either. Like I said it's just not for us
