For my fellow migraine suffers...

Re: For my fellow migraine suffers...

  • I used to get migraines throughout my teens and early twenties. Strangely enough, they reduced drastically when I went off of birth control when I was 24. Naturally, they came back with a vengeance during pregnancy. Early on, I'd have to go to the ER to get IV meds because I wouldn't realize it was the start of a migraine until it was too late. Then I'd get so dehydrated from the vomiting that I'd need to get IV liquids and usually Delaudid. Pregnancy was brutal as I stuck with just Tylenol, caffeine, and these awesome ice headbands my mom found for me.

Your link couldn't be truer. The worst are people who talk about their headaches after you say you get migraines.

In any case, hugs from a fellow migraine sufferer. I'm hoping mine don't come back.

Yeah like when DH complains of his headaches. I want to smack him. My migraines used to be so bad I would get them up to 5-6 times a week. I went on Topamax and I tell everyone it was a life saver. I went off of it about a year before TTC and also stopped hormonal bc. They are definitely better than they were and seem to be even better since having LO. I hope mine don't come back as bad as they were!!

  • So true! Especially the caffeine for me! I'm feeling a new level of migraines now PP, dealing with migraines in addition to taking care of LO. Ugh. This past week I wanted to just have someone chop my head off so I wouldn't have to deal with both!
  • Soooo true. My rage gets so bad when people are just trying to help!

Excrdrin Migraine being recalled put me in the ER 4 times. I'm just saying. I don't know what was wrong with it, but I think if have risked it.
    Married DH <3 : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat)
DS born 9/3/13; DD born 7/22/15; LO due 5/28/18
FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!

  • I get 6-8 a month and I really do want to kill someone when they talk about their headaches. Or hey this is what I take. Yea if Tylenol or Ibuprofen works for you I'm likely to think you may not have a migraine. Not saying it can't but most migraine sufferers I know are on prescription medication. I being one of them. I'd like to claw the right side of my face off sometimes.

I've heard they are hereditary... I can thank my mom for them. They usually make me sick to my stomach and I would way rather have someone just cut the top of my head off (that's how I feel at the time)..I had to drink a cup of tea every morning while pregnant to help prevent them. I've been starting to get jaw aches that are super irritating and is all in the left side of my face which triggers them now.. Great fun

  • I don't get many but when I do they are BAD, auras and all.  That's actually how I wound up in L&D and later induced to meet my lil man.  Thanks for that migraine!  I get strong 'stroke like' symptoms as auras (as per my doctor's description).  Super fun!!  AND my biggest trigger?!  Caffeine!  Too much or too little.  Ugh!

  • A friend of mine posted on Facebook the other day with a question about migraine treatment, and someone commented back saying to ignore all the responses that discussed medications and instead just stay hydrated. It made me ragey. I ignored rather than start a war, but I wanted to tell Captain Unhelpful that he had obviously never actually suffered from chronic migraines. What a douche.
