Coughing

Hey guys, DD has been coughing on and off all week. It's not phlemy or wheezing or anything, just like she is clearing her throat or has a dry cough. She has also been a fake cougher for a long time, since that became a game long ago, so I didn't think much of it at first.

It seems to be getting worse now though. Yesterday I was wondering if she had a hair in her mouth as she kept coughing and then opening and closing her mouth all day long.

Today it's been constant mild coughing since she woke up, but otherwise she is perfectly fine. Should I be concerned? I was thinking maybe she is coughing from excess saliva but there isn't a ton of drool.

Is this just a sign of teething? Anyone else experience this?

Re: Coughing

  • DD does this sometimes during the night. I think it's post nasal drip irritation because she's getting over a cold. If it doesn't sound congested or wheezy, probably just saliva. But hope it gets better soon!

  • If it's a dry cough and there's no wheezing, I wouldn't be concerned.

  • We had this exact problem and took Maisie to the Doctor yesterday. She has had an on again off again cough for weeks. It never seems to turn into anythig serious. Sometimes the cough is dry and sounds kind of bad. The doctor told us its completely normal. She said babies will get this throughout the entire winter And there is nothing to be done. It's a viral thing and it is part of their immune system getting stronger. Hope this helps!

    This!
Alex has had a cough for 2 weeks now. I finally broke down and took him to the doctor. I felt awful for him! However, chest was clear and all is okay. I feel bad because sometimes he coughs so hard, he throws up! Frustrating to say the least.

    This definitely helps... Thank you!
