What are you doing special for babies first christmas?

I am just starting to get some ideas, cannot believe its 2 months away!! We are doing pictures (of course) and starting an ornament collection. Not sure what else yet. Do you have special traditions as a family? Or starting something new maybe?

Re: What are you doing special for babies first christmas?

  • Just an ornament each year. I am following my parent's lead as well and buying DH and I one each year too so when our kids are grown and moved out with their ornaments, our tree won't be naked. We probably won't do this this year because DS is too young but someone at our baptism class said that their family always bought a cake that said, Happy birthday Jesus." I was raised Catholic and we're raising DS catholic so I loved this idea.

  • We don't really have any unique traditions, but I do want to get her an ornament that says Baby's 1st Christmas, and also her own stocking with her name on it. Other than that, I'm just really looking forward to putting up the tree, and opening presents with her Christmas Day.

You just made me realize I need to book our Christmas photos for beginning to middle of November, so we have time to get them back and mail them. Holy cow.
  • I'm going to try to make some handprint salt dough ornaments for the grandparents and then a special one for us. Of course pics too.

We are doing a baby's first Christmas ornament, and I want to do Christmas photos also. I also want to make hand print ornaments for the grandparents.  And we'll do new jammies (a tradition I had growing up).
ETA no idea what happened to the formatting here... *shrug*

  • We do new jammies on Christmas eve, elf on the shelf, we have a bunch of holiday books that get brought out at the beginning of December and then put away until the next year, stockings, pictures with Santa, we drive around and look at Christmas lights one night, bake cookies, and more I can't remember.

  • New pj's on Christmas Eve, one new ornament each year.

ETA difficult meaning, difficult to get her to keep her hand open?

I had to try several times (luckily you can start over as many times as needed). Actually the easiest one I did was when Ava was 12 days old. Ha! I found its best to distract her with something else and grab the hand when she's preoccupied. :)
