What is the purpose of counting the baby's kicks? What are the benefits of doing this? Other than being present with yourself and spending a little quiet time with you and LO. Why count?
Since I have been reading a lot about it on this forum, I asked my OB about it . He said the only time he recommends it is when there is not enough amniotic fluids .
I did it because I had a bit of a fall in my kitchen and landed on my belly pretty hard, so right after I went and did a kick count just to make sure baby was still moving in there, he was, and so the next morning I called my Dr, she said if I felt ok, no spotting and did the kick count and baby was moving, then not to worry.
So I don't do them daily, by any means, but occassionally when something happens or if I just feel like I haven't felt him in a while.
I don't do kick counts unless LO is not moving as much. The first time I have done kick counts was yesterday. I got sent home from my NST but was told to do kick counts since LO wasn't moving as much.
