CitiMini Double or Maclaren Double?

Anyone have experience with either of these double strollers for an infant and a toddler/preschooler?

If I get a sit-and-stand model,I'll probably go with the Joovy Too Caboose, but as an alternative idea, I'm researching reasonably light, easy-to-maneuver double strollers. Input appreciated.

Re: CitiMini Double or Maclaren Double?

  • I actually looked at both of those strollers when I was expecting but settled on the Valco Snap Dual. It's only 22 lbs so it was lighter than the Maclaren I was looking at and has a bigger basket than the City Mini. It also steers nicer IMO. It pushes 1 handed and even over grass. It's only 29 inches wide so it fits in standard doors. I really have loved using it. It's newborn rated too, so you don't need a car seat adaptor to stroll your new baby. I now have a 5 month old and a 2 year old and so far so good.

You can get the blue one on Amazon right now for under $300. It is on sale. Normally it's $450. I think they are getting rid of the color.

  • I've owned both and they are good for different things. The maclaren is feat for travel and for super quick running into a shop or something.
Any kind of real walking outside I prefer the city mini
  • I looked into both also and went with the city mini. It's easier to steer one handed and canopy is great. The basket (although annoying) is still better then the maclaren.
  • City mini. I tried the maclaren at BRU but the sunshades and super easy fold sold me on the CM. I love that thing so much!

Thanks to you and the other folks who responded! I guess I should have clarified which Maclaren I meant. Actually, I'm interested in both the Techno and the Triumph.  Which one did you have?  Do you know what the major differences between the two Maclaren models are, if any?
  • I think the differences are in seat recline or not, the wheels are all the same.
It's just a much smaller stroller overall than the citi mini, canopies are smallish, the kids are pretty close to the ground, etc.
I love it now that my kids are 2 and long stroller walks are a thing of the past (they would much rather walk) as it takes up no space in the car. But I think the city mini is even faster to fold.
  • I don't think you can attach a car seat to the maclaren (or can you?) depending on how much you are in and out if the car and planning on using an infant seat that would be a deal breaker for me.
Honestly, the only reason I would go with the maclaren is if you plan on plane travel or have a really really really small trunk. Otherwise the citi mini pushes better, is easier to fold, can take the car seat, etc
  • City Mini double.  Easier to push, better sunshades and bigger basket.

I would get this for a lightweight double.  It's lighter than even the Maclaren.
