Weeks to Months

LO is 8 weeks old today and 2 months on Thursday and I'll probably stop referring to her age in weeks at that point and start saying months when non-moms ask how old she is. Sad face!

No reason in particular but I'm not a fan of moms who refer to their kids in weeks forever and to me, 2 months was a good tipping point to make the switch.

So my question to you all is, at what point will you make the transition from saying weeks to months when people ask how old LO is?

And in case you were wondering I am now 1,541 weeks old.

Eh, to me it's easier to say weeks than to say 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 months. That's just right now though. I'll probably stop when she's around three or four months I guess.

C is 8 weeks old. I will probably use weeks yet after she turns 2 months. At this age, 2 months, 2.5 months and almost 3 months is a huge difference.

Today was the first time I had to really think about how many weeks DS is (10), so I think my time is up. It's also strange when people won't let go of age in months Ex: He's 32 months

Same as you, about 2 months. Past that, though I care (about the diff btwn 9 and 11 weeks), no one else really does.

I'll probably switch at 3 months because then she isn't considered a newborn anymore

I switched from weeks to months around 2.5-3 mo (10-12 weeks).

W the big one, I switched from months to years around 18mo. / 1.5yrs

Just curious what you're using to define "newborn"? I Only ask bc my pediatrician said 28 days.

I just had this exact convo with a friend. LO hit 2 months yesterday I've started saying months instead of weeks. Makes me sad!!!
You should see the huge box of clothing that my no-longer-newborn has outgrown!

I switch when I can no longer easily remember who many weeks old she is. I believe that was sometime around 10-12 weeks with DD1.

I will probably stop going by weeks at 12 weeks. And I'll stop going by months at 1 year.

I don't know why moms keep going on with the month thing. Nothing like asking a mom How old is he?....Oh he's 24 months. Uhh, you mean 2 years right? Lol

LO isn't even 2 months and I already round up instead of using 8 weeks lol..

28 days is the definition of a neonate, I'm not sure if newborn is considered the same, probably is. Then I think infant is 1 year. But is my 11 week old still called a newborn cause she's still in newborn diapers and clothes? A lot not very meaningful terminology I guess

Nobody really cares except me. I try to stick with months when I'm out and about. Like yesterday I told the cashier he was 1.5 months.

@mommabmb I always figured the first 3 months were newborns. No clue why lol

DD is almost 11w. I've been saying she's two months. I feel like it confuses people less.
I remember during pregnancy when I would say 28weeks I could see the gears turning in people's heads trying to figure out how many months that was.

The only time I referred to my pregnancy in weeks was when I was talking to other people who had been pregnant. That, and mh.

Everyone else would look at me funny when I said weeks.

I use months IRL. It irritates me when moms IRL refer to their 2 year old as 24 months.

Anything more than 8 weeks... After that I don't think most people (non moms) care to do the math.

I was just thinking about this the other day actually. I think when talking with others I'll start using months now, but I'll remember the weeks in my own head. LO was 8 weeks on Thursday so I'll just start saying 2 months.
