which is horribly tragic all around. i was shocked when i read (at least when son was in hospital still) he was still planning on playing in a NFL game this sunday? say what??? seems like a douche move.

I think it's a douche canoe move for sure. But on the other hand, Joe Flacco played a few sundays ago while his wife was giving birth to their second son. He missed it and went up after the game.

He's one of the top running backs in the NFL on the Minnesota Vikings. He almost broke the year long rushing yards for the season.

They do fly all over the place it wouldn't be surprising if he wasn't there at some point, but I honestly don't know.

Maybe he is playing in honor/memory of his son? I'm not sure I agree with it either but I remember some other nfl player playing a game (I tbink when his brother died) last year...who knows but it is a sad situation for sure

What a tragedy. I can't even imagine. That being said, I am not going to judge him for doing what he needs to in order to cope with this, whether its playing or not playing.

Ugh... I live in a small town that is tops in our state for domestic violence, and it just really breaks my heart to know that things like this aren't unique to wherever that situation happened, or to that family. Just today DH and I were at an open house for a local domestic violence shelter/victim's advocacy organization. It breaks my heart that we need organizations like that, but they seem to do really good work.

It's horribly sad that he is having to deal with this. It's sickening that a woman would be with a man like that and allow him around her children.

I'd never judge someone for their actions while dealing with a situation I could never ever imagine having to deal with though. I cried when I heard that his son had passed.

Since someone else already mentioned Favre, I'll mention Tony Dungy and Andy Reid. Both coached games following the deaths of their sons.

AP has lived through watching his older brother and best friend get hit and killed by a drunk driver and his half brother being murdered the night before the NFL combine. If playing football is what it's going to take to help him feel better, who the fuck am I to judge?

Even more tragic that AP met the baby for the first time when he was on life support in the hospital.

There are pictures going around my facebook of AP kissing on a little boy, which i am guessing is AP jr? It's not even the one that died.....

The first time he met him was on Thursday when he was already on life support. The mom didnt even think he was his and had another man tested first. When that came back negative, she got in contact with AP because they had an encounter "several years ago," according to the article on TMZ.

This. The kid in all the photos circulating is not the toddler who unfortunately passed. It is his other son. AP didn't know he was the father of this boy until very recently. Truely heart breaking.

It's an awful situation but I don't think it is my place to judge a person on how they grieve. If playing football is what he needs then he should go for it.

No, he just found out about him a few months ago and was planning on making a trip out there to meet him. The mother thought it was somebody else but when realized it wasnt AP took a paternity test no problem and found out it was his. Just never made it out there until this tragedy took place so he first met him in person when he got to the hospital and the baby was on life support.

I read that he only recently discovered he was the father and was planning on visiting him soon..unfortunately, this tragedy happened before then. He met him for the first time at the hospital apparently.

So heartbreaking no matter what. It's even more upsetting that this guy had a record of domestic violence with another woman.
