Great article about giving your body time to go into labor naturally...

For all the 40+ weekers and those debating induction I found this helpful!

I'm worried I'm going to go past my due date and I have heard scary stories about how this can be dangerous. This article addressed many of my concerns with seemingly good info! Hope it helps a few of you!

  • Seeing as I have a scheduled induction at 39w5d, maybe I shouldn't read this. I really don't want to hear more horror stories about pitocin or how going natural and waiting is better... Lol

  • Didn't read the article.. Based off others reactions, good skip.  Rock on.

  • @jaycarmelxo, she basically talks about how she was 4cm, 50% at 38 weeks. Everyone expected her to go "any minute". But she didn't have the baby until hours shy of being 42 weeks. She talks about how happy she was to have a MW because she just "knows" she would have had an induction that ended in a c/s if she had been under OB care.

I wasn't really annoyed until I got to the OB comment. And I don't think most of what she said is bad or anything. But every woman is different and needs to do what's best for them IMO. Waiting to 42 weeks is not safe for everyone.
  • I that some doctors can be induction happy, but I feel like this is one of those best to err on the side of caution situations. Yes, I want a med free vaginal birth, but not as much as I want a healthy baby. If induction or c section is what it takes, so be it.

  • I didn't read it simply because of the name of the link.  If it said OBs/MDs/Midwives with babies then maybe I would have.

  • I think every situation is different. Some people feel ore comfortable in a hospital, some people feel more comfy able at home, A ,to of times I feel the home/ natural people lecture ladies on the evils of inductions, c/s, Eli's, etc I have never gone into labor on my own or been close to labor and have have babies well over 9 lbs, I truly feel I would have out my baby in danger if I had waited another week or 2 and possibly had a 10-11 lb baby. Yes, most women can birth babies and will go into labor on their own, but there seems to be an undertone in some posts/ articles about induction because of size of past due that you are giving up, taking the easy way out or nt letting nurture take its course. Each situation is different and I test my drs took now best. I would never critique someone's choice to Have a natural birth at home, but see ,it's of natural ladies really questioning women whose drs suggest inductions or other medical interventions, It makes a nerving time even worse because you are left doubting the advice of your drs. I question the people who t,am about how much research they have done. You didn't go to med school, but read some article any people who feel strongly about natural births no had good experiences.
  • I'm super nervous because my midwife wants to let me go to 42 weeks and we don't exactly agree on conception/due dates so it's closer to 43 for what she wants. I feel like I'm going to have to fight her if I want to be induced sooner which stresses me out! I'm trying to find research on both sides so I don't freak myself out. Any research based articles would be appreciated!
