[Update: No spotting for a full day!]Toddler jumped on my stomach. The spotting continues.

edited October 2013 in June 2014 Moms
I'm a bit of a wreck.

I've been dealing with spotting since last weekend. Ultrasound looked good, was too early to see anything but the sac, but it was measuring right. The spotting finally stopped yesterday, and this morning, my toddler got up on the bed and FLOPPED on my stomach. No spotting all day, I woke up at 10pm having to pee and there it is again, bright red spotting.

I don't know how much more I can take of this. I just want things to go smoothly :(

Update! For the first time in a week, I have had no spotting.  :) Yay

  • Baby is still super low, well hidden behind your pubic bone.  No jumping on your belly can hurt them down there.  I'm sorry about the spotting though, I know that's nervewracking!    Did they look for a SCH (subchorianic hematoma I think)?  I know that those can cause quite a bit of spotting.

Honestly, I don't even know! The only thing more frustrating than the spotting is the silence at my drs office. They took a urine sample monday and US on Wednesday. I called them today asking if everything was okay because nobody had called me back and the nurse just said "Everything was normal." And ended the call. Be a little more vague, please?

  • Just remember your uterus is still behind the pubic bone. I hope the spotting stops but I doubt its from the toddler.

That helps. When I was googling spotting when it started on the weekend, it mentioned getting hit in the stomach... which was mainly why I was worried

stop googling! it will freak you out and not give you the real answer. there are many reasons for spotting and sometimes you never know why.

Haha, I'm sure that's very sound advice. I remember with DD, I made 100% sure to avoid "Dr Google", I guess I forgot this time. I'm cutting myself off!

  • (((hugs))) hon Spotting is always scary but I agree with the PP that baby is very well protected now. Hoping that spotting stops soon.

Oh, man.  That's terribly frustrating.  But if they said everything was normal, I would try and hold on to that.  There is so much blood and swelling in the region that you can have spotting without having things be wrong.  Fingers crossed it stops soon so you don't have to keep worrying about it.  When is your next appointment?

  • Someone told me that their ob told them (I hope it's true) that a blow to the abdomen needs to be so severe that it would cause internal injury for it to hurt the baby. That makes me feel a lot better, because I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and, as much as I try to keep them off of me and my belly, it's hard to never get jumped on or barreled into.

I am SO sorry that you're spotting, though. I'm sure that's just brewing up all kinds of anxiety. I really don't think the toddler can have hurt your little bean, though. ((hugs))

  • my 90 lb dog stepped on my belly when I was pregnant with my first in the first trimester and all three of us (me, toddler, and dog) are all fine :)
  • That sounds stressful. Hope the spotting stops soon! Like other said, baby is well protected in there.
