Has anyone read this book? Opinions? During my first OB visit, I asked my doctor if she would give me advice on what to do and what not to, she suggested reading that book..... Thoughts?
I bought this book with DS and it was helpful. I think it is a good purchase for a FTM, but it's also nice to have around the house in case you forget or are just curious about something you didn't experience the first time around.
That being said, I was really anxious with DS. He was my first and I would read EVERYTHING! Bad idea. My doctor kept telling me no books, no Google at one point because my blood pressure was being effected. He said if I had major concerns to just ask him directly. It is easy to get yourself panicked for no reason if you read too much. This time around I have been much more relaxed. I check out the development from week to week and that's about it. I am trying to just enjoy this pregnancy without the drama I caused myself last time around.
It made me a little too anxious. I enjoyed the Mayo Clinic's book which was much more medically based. It makes the reading a lot more dry, but I definitely stressed less over the content.
Thank you ladies! Is it strange that my OB just recommended that I read this book instead of giving me some info herself? It's my first pregnancy so not sure what's common....
I read this book however i didn't find it as helpful as "Pregnancy Day by Day" What to expect kinda of scared me most of the time. I know you should know the what ifs but most of the time i skipped the bad stuff because i got super paranoid.

It's a good reference book but it is very clinical and yes... it can be scary. I read the whole thing on vacation and ended up feeling stressed. I do however pick it up from time to time when I want to check some things. I'm reading this book now called The Surprising History of How We Are Born - Birth by Tina Cassidy. It was recommended by a friend and really like it so far.
i prefer thebump.com...The book did help me during my ectopic pregnancy..i knew something was wrong, and the book pointed it out...its great for reference...i got a bundle off ebay for 8.00 free shipping...
I personally found it very helpful. Some women say it's scary but I think it's just honest. My opinion may be biased because I didn't read any other book, but I also didn't read any other people because I found WTEWYE so information and helpful that I didn't feel like I needed another.

Eh, not that strange. My OB gave me a list of OTC medicines that I could take and sent me on my way. We didn't even discuss things like, "Can I eat sushi?"

I felt those books made me worry more often the not or self diagnosis and get myself in a frenzy.
