Sitting up question

Sorry to post two in a row, but I felt the need to. lol

So Hannah can sit when I put her in a sitting position. She can crawl, she can roll over. She pulled herself up in her crib (from a sitting position) yesterday and this morning. When did you LO's go from crawling to sitting? She hasn't quite figured that out. She is trying so hard to sit up from lying flat on her back, to me that looks quite challenging watching her lol.

Re: Sitting up question

  • You know, it's funny.  When it's happening, you think "this is the most important moment ever!  I shall never forget this moment!"  And then a couple of months later, you can't remember any of it.  :(  Maybe that's why they invented baby books.

I think E was sitting earlier than she was crawling.  She wasn't really big on crawling, did it on one knee and one foot, and only did it for a couple of weeks before she started walking.  She only used crawling as a method to get from one object to pull up on to another object to pull up on.  For the record though, E still can't sit up from lying flat on her back.  She has to roll to her side.

This is so true! DD didn't even crawl until 10 months, and I'm pretty sure she was sitting up from the hands and knees position well before that, but honestly, I can't remember. I'm going to have to go through all of my old FB posts and videos/pictures on my phone to figure things out if I ever get around to filling out DD's baby book!

  • I'm with @mcgeeva. Both of my boys did the army crawl for months before getting up to all fours. But, the week they started really crawling, they started sitting back onto their bottoms. DS2 did it around 9ish months and DS1 did it at 11.

  • DS was crawling well before he figured out how to get into the sitting position on his own. The first time I saw him do it, I was so excited, and then he fell over and hit his head. I wasn't fast enough to prevent it.

Anyway, DS did not like sitting up on his own before he could do this maneuver. It is funny, I can't really describe how it works, but it definitely involved being able to get up on hands and knees and sort of backing up into a seated position.
