Always worried!

Am I the only one who is always worried about their LO? I'm always worried she too hot or too cold, about how she sleeps because of SIDS and just everything I could possibly worry about. I'm going to drive myself crazy. Am I the only one? Any advice on how to get past this feeling? I'm sure as a parent you always worry but if anyone has advice id appreciate it.

Re: Always worried!

  • and I also worry about her spitting up or throwing up and choking on it. She's a c section baby so the first 24 hours or so she spit up a lot and it just scared us from day one.

  • I worry about SIDS constantly. She sleeps 4 to 5 hours straight every night, so night time is the scariest for me. I just keep her well within seeing distance. Just take it one day at a time helps me. But we should get used to it. Worrying is our job now that we're parents.
  • Eh... I am not much of a worrier but I don't have any clue how I became this way so I am not of much help. My best piece of advice is to arm yourself with knowledge. The more I know the less I worry. Make sure if you are going to worry that it is stress free worry because you don't want to pass that unneeded stress onto your LO!

  • This is me exactly. I was crying all the time because I was so worried. It was definitely getting to be irrational. My dr put me on Zoloft and I'm feeling much more in control of my emotions now. I still worry, but at a reasonable level.

  • I worry about SIDS a lot too. It's scary and not much you can do to "get passed it" or not worry.

  • I worry too. First 2 weeks I barely shut an eye. He's 5 weeks and I still worry like crazy and night gives me anxiety. I wish I had words of wisdom but I could use some too! Being a mom is so rewarding and challenging!
  • A favorite quote of mine...

"If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?"

Loving a little being so much, it's impossible not to worry. Reminding myself that my worry is not productive and is not keeping him any safer helps. When I'm calm and focused, I'm more present, more aware, and I think this helps keep my son safer ham anything. I just ask myself "what can I ACTUALLY do for him right now?" and that helps me.
But Lordy, it's hard not to worry sometimes!
  • If it's an overwhelming worry, it may be post partum anxiety. I had it with DS1, and again now.

  • I think it's completely normal to be worried all the time about your LO! We have the rest of our lives to worry about them. I'm constantly worried about SIDS too but I know that I take the proper precautions to protect him from it so that's all I can do. I worried when I went back to work leaving him with my MIL or DH but after a couple times I realized he is perfectly fine with them. Just do your best and enjoy your LO!
  • Thank you everyone. I am glad to hear I am not the only one feeling this way. I guess it's hard not to worry when you love someone so much. My husband helps me not worry so much so that does help but the feeling is always there a little.
  • I think PPs have great advice. I'm worrying a lot, too!
  • My first two kids are 9 and 11. It never goes away. You learn to deal with it but it's still thete

  • I could have written this post. I'm terrified of SIDS, and I'm obviously taking precautions, but I think the worst part is that they really don't have any concrete causes, and that scares me. It's both wonderful and terrifying loving someone this much. I'm just glad I'm not alone in worrying all the time.
  • I was extremely worried with Lucas. He was my first living longer than 8 days baby. It got so bad that I started getting anxiety attacks. This time I'm more confident in my abilities and laid back. I still worry, but it's not all consuming.
