Re: Ask me anything!

  • OOO!!!  So much fun :)  I wasn't here a year ago, so do we all post a "ask me anything" post or is it just one person each day?

    How'd you meet your wife?

    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.

  • I love would you rather questions!

Would you rather: be able to run at 100 mph or be able to fly at 10 mph?

  • Lots of questions, no answers!  Since I can't come up with a question ...

@newmompeanut - We met at a city wide dance in high school, then reconnected years later.

@wallace323 - I came up with this name years and years ago (as in, middle school) because I loved Star Wars.  I keep it now because I can remember it.

@healz413 - Favorite toppings ... I usually get pepperoni, but if we're talking about favorite pizza there is a restaurant here that has a mashed potato pizza which is a-MAZE-ing.  Instead of red sauce, it's dough, baby red mashed potatoes, feta cheese, tomato, and green onion (we get it without onion).  Easy to make at home, too!

    @wishiwaspreggo - I'd rather fly at 10mph.

  • @newmompeanut -- in the past we would do one person a day. Kept the threads a little easier to follow, and that way if you had specific questions for specific people, you could ask them.

I met my wife online. We chatted a bit over email and then met up at a coffee shop. I wasn't convinced I was interested at first but as she likes to say, she grew on me. :)

  • @wallace323 -- I set up this account on The Knot when I was planning our wedding in 2006-2007. I used to occasionally refer to myself as the "old ball and chain" when we got engaged, partly because it was just funny but especially because it usually connotes someone who is restrictive or holds you back and I am totally the opposite. I'm very independent, like spending time alone (though of course I also like spending time with my wife), and encourage her to do things that she enjoys even when I don't want to go (play poker with her guy friends, go to baseball games, take golf lessons etc). She claims I am "the best wife in the world" for "letting" her do that stuff, but I think it would be crazy not to.

  • @healz413 -- I love pizzas with fried eggplant on them. Not so healthy, but what are you gonna do. Also sliced meatballs (not WITH the eggplant, although I don't think that would necessarily be bad), ricotta cheese, and hot peppers.

  • @wishiwaspreggo -- Fly at ANY speed, I think.

@themommymonster -- I haven't actually watched the video -- and I've never seen a real fox in person, much less heard if he/she "says" anything. But I do think foxes are pretty cute...I think my cat looks a little like a gray fox.

  • @KLeigh1 -- good question! I told her recently that the things that are best about her are not actually the things I would have known I wanted or needed before I met her. On paper, we are not super compatible -- very different interests and personalities. I am VERY introverted -- not as in shy, although I used to be and still can be in certain situations -- but just in the sense that I am very much turned inward in the way I process things. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes it's good to be drawn out a bit, and my wife is good at doing that. I would just chew on a feeling for weeks without saying anything, but she will get it out of me and get me to talk about it, and it's usually helpful. She is kind-hearted, generous and hard-working, has a LOT of integrity, and makes me laugh. She also graduated from culinary school and worked as a professional chef for a while, so she is an awesome cook. :)

  • @2MamazinSeattle, you remember everything! J

My mom was really into genealogy, so she did a lot of research on both sides of our family before she passed away. My heritage is about 50% British (the other 50% is a mix of other western European nationalities), and she traced the earliest immigrant from England to a boat that arrived in Massachusetts in 1632 (that’s 12 years after the Pilgrims). We also learned we are descended from some prominent figures in 17 th -19 th Century Massachusetts, including several people that local roads are named for and someone who was burned as a witch in Salem.

  • We chose an ID Release donor from a sperm bank, so he is not known to us now, but our potential children will have the option of trying to contact him through the bank when they are 18, if they choose to do so. We had various issues with using a known donor (legal issues, my wife worried that the donor would have a stronger link to our children than she would, and we simply didn’t have a good candidate in mind). However, it was important to us to give our children the option to learn his identity when they are adults. I’ve read studies indicating that the vast majority of children who have been adopted feel a strong desire to meet/know/track down their biological family, so I just didn’t feel right denying my children the right to try. If they choose not to, that’s up to them, but at least we won’t have made the decision for them.
