Diastasis Recti question

Hi! I'm 6 wks PP and I think I have diastasis rect. This was my third pregnancy and with my first two my belly did not look like this.
Can anyone share their experiences? Did it go away?
TIA

Re: Diastasis Recti question

  • I had a mild separation after my first pregnancy (singleton). It did resolve with exercise for me (I am a physical therapist). Whether or not it will resolve on it's own depends on the severity. I am pretty concerned of how bad it will be for me after this pregnancy! If you are concerned, you could try finding a physical therapist that has experience with post-partum women and diastasis recti to have it assessed. Good luck!

  • I agree with rcnavywife - find a PT who specializes in postpartum issues. I had a 4-finger separation and corrected it with PT in about 6 weeks. It was tough but so worth it!
